They leave out important information so that you're trapped paying extra fees. No one in customer service cares about the problems that they create and have an overall apathetic attitude. The girls in the kids club treat the kids there like a red headed stepchild. They don't care about their employees, either, and have forced talented employees to take their skills to other gyms. No one cares about anything until you threaten to cancel your membership.
Worst 24 hour fitness I have been to. Many of the powered machines were either not working, or partially working and in need of repair. This location focuses on treadmills and bikes and offers limited selection of specific muscle training equipment. If you are into dead weight lifting, there is plenty of that, more so then treadmills. Locker room had a stink to it and no curtains on the showers. The toilet areas obviously do not get cleaned often, pee stains on the walls next to the urinals and pipes have turned green. Drinks are overpriced, 3 times more expensive then the gas station in the parking lot. You are paying for the convenience factor I guess
I've been a member for 9 months, I've moved out of the area and called the Gilbert club to cancel my membership. I realize I'm going to have to pay a prorated amount for the last 3 months because I read the small print when signing up. That is not the issue. My frustration is when the staff informs me that "their company policy" always a bad sign is only mangers can cancel an account and I have to come in, in person, "for my own security" also a very bad sign to "discuss" the option of cancelling my account. Now, here is the rub - I signed up online in Feb 2015. No one protected my security by requiring me to meet with a manager in person to start billing my card. And my credit card has been billed every month, no issue there. So I asked if I can write a letter requesting the account cancellation and was told "No, their company policy does not allow for cancellation in writing", again citing my "safety". They gave me a 1-800# to call their "corporate office" to cancel. I've called three times in the last hour and every time, after choosing the "cancel" option, I get disconnected. I'll find a way to cancel this account, there is no question about that. But the poor customer relations tactics to avoid canceling a membership not only has completely frustrated me, but hopefully serves as a warning to anyone considering enrolling.
I am so annoyed that every single time I have come here my 13 month girl hates it here. I also brought my sister and her boy, which he didn't like the kids club here either. And they apparently have different rules here, and they make my daughter be secluded in a play pen by herself while all the other toddlers have the floor and have fun with each other: The kids club in Chandler is waaaaay better for kids! More clean, more friendly, she can play with the kids, and they don't make her stay in a pen the entire time I am working out. I understand it's more safer, but common! She hates it and is over a year old. It's so annoying how they make up their own rules at each gym.. So now I have to drive 20 minutes to go to chandler gym everyday so my little girl can play with other kids and have fun and be comfortable compared to here... Doesn't make sense. To bad the chandler kids club closes at 12:
I was a 24 hour fitness member for over 4 years and I had to terminate my membership due to the fact that I decided to go to a University out of town. I came back two months later as a guest, and I had a free pass. I was allowed to use it at another location and I wasn't told that I was doing something wrong. So I decided to go to Gilbert, a gym I always went to before, and workout. The manager berated me and made me del bad for using a free pass. She even had the audacity to "bring down" the drop in fee. Because of this awful experience I had, I refuse to go to the Gilbert Location. I do come back every once and a while to different 24 hour locations and pay the drop in fee when I am visiting and I want to workout with my parents.
The meat head at the front desk was rude, the gym was dark, and the machines suck. Lots of broken equipment. I was excited to know that the 24 Hr fitness locations were acquired but LA Fitness but not impressed so far. Also, they are not open 24 hours every day like you would assume.
. I will admit the staff is only engaged when you reach out first and many of the staff are kids so they do not have the years of experience you may get elsewhere. This gym is not as busy as others say and I never have to wait for machines or free weights. Although the staff is very friendly for the most part, the gym is run down and sadly in need of upgrade.
Buyer beware if you get the Costco deal you either have to die or become disabled to get out of the contract. Also you must wear closed toe shoes. I was told that 2 months into a 2 year contract. ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT. Don't be an idiot like me.
Never been to the gym but live in the neighborhood near it. They have training using big truck/tractor tires outside. Throwing and banging on the tires until late hours of the night and starting back up before 5am! Very disruptive and rude to those who try to sleep normal hours.
I've been a member at multiple gyms in the valley over the years and this location is the dirtiest venue by far. Don't forget your sandals if you plan on using the locker rooms.
