This is a very nice gym. There is a lot of equipment and a nice lap pool and sauna. The locker rooms are big. My grandchildren beg me to take them to the gym because they have so much fun in the children's room. The personal trainers are all very experienced and friendly.
Facility is nice, lots of weights and machines. I go at night and almost never have to wait to use anything. Also a nice pool with jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. Only real con is the price, basic membership is already high and this gym requires a premium upgrade.
I went to this gym for the first time tonight. They have almost any kind of machine and equipment you can think of. It was clean, and they have towel service which is nice. The only thing I think they should change is to have more dumb bells in the free weight section. Overall after finding the equipment I needed for my back/bi day I had a really good workout.
I went in 24 hour fitness today to get my three day free pass that I had signed up for online. I had previously five years ago before attending college worked for a different 24 hour fitness location so I thought I would at least check this gym out even though I had heard it wasn't going to be worth my time. I should have listened to the advice I received to skip 24 hour fitness all together and not had such a terrible experience. I told the lady at the front desk I wanted to get a pass and check out the gym. She got on the phone and called a fitness counselor named Anthony and I mentioned to her that she didn't need to do that because I had previously worked at a 24 hour fitness and didn't need a tour. She tells me it's protocol and he comes up. He tells me he won't give me a pass because they don't issue passes to people who used to work for 24 Hour Fitness or former members. I asked him where they had that in writing and he said, "It's not on the guest pass, but it's a policy we have to follow." So, I asked him about if they had it in writing anywhere-like a legal team that I could talk to because it seemed like he just really didn't want to deal with me since I wasn't buying a membership right then. He shrugged and said, "No, you can call member services." So, I looked up the policy for 24 Hour Fitness guest passes and it states, "User must not have been a guest or member of 24 Hour Fitness within the last 6 months." There is nothing about being a former employee of 5 years ago...and it's only the past 6 months that is restricted for prior members. So, I went down the street to Lifetime Fitness and signed up there. Lifetime had great customer service and the staff was kind and friendly. I'll pay a little extra to never have to deal with someone who is so lazy they can't even print off a pass. No thank you. I hope this helps!
I just went to this gym, and it was DISGUSTING!!!!! Trash and dirt all over the floors, my socks were covered in grime, filth, and other women's hair from just standing in a single place for a minute to change! The entire place had a rank odor. Machines not wiped down and covered in sweat and grime, and the spray bottle is empty. I've been going to gyms for a long time, in all sorts of places. I even normally love 24 hour fitness. But I've never experienced a gym this nasty in my life! Ugh!
The fact that they only have one squat rack is absurd. The fact that they'll let someone camp out over there as long as they want mind you, not doing squats most of the time, is enough for me to take my family's business elsewhere. I actually really like the staff, so this is not an attempt to get anyone in trouble but you can only take so much of having to stalk someone just to get a machine over there. There is actually a pretty good community over there but there is a good percentage of wanna be bodybuilders who have no problem hogging a particular area. This problem isn't limited to the squat area. It's very hard to make progress and get a game plan together when you never know what your workout is going to be because someone could potentially be using an area of interest during your allotted gym time. I certainly wouldn't suggest this place for someone who actually has a job or a family. Not everyone has all day to lift. I have been a member of this gym for almost 3 years and it has always been this way. There has to be a better experience elsewhere.
If you're into weights I'd recommend going somewhere else. This place is so damn busy all the time! They only have one squat rack, even at non-peak hours you will be lucky if you don't have to wait 30 minutes to use it. They have two bench press's but good luck nabbing one of those too. There is always 20+ people lifting so you will always be waiting on things and running into other people. I paid for the 2 year pass in early 2012 and I had to break down and buy a membership to another gym that is not so busy.
CAUTION: working out here might be dangerous. I say this because you may end up dying from laughing at all the goofy Kansans trying there hardest to look badass. From their gym attire most looked like they searched "Underground New York Gym wear" on Google to the countless white guys, who after completing a lift, will start dancing to whatever hip-hop track their listening too, this place is a RIOT. The gym is actually pretty nice. The staff is courteous and there are a lot of normal people there just to lift and workout, both beginners and "gym rats". But the corny posers in this place just ruins it and for people who actually have been to the gyms these losers are trying to emulate, its really distracting to try and workout when the idiots continuously try and bring attention to themselves by acting like there from New York or Los Angeles. YOUR NOT! I've been to those gyms. Most people just go there to workout and not bring attention to themselves. These Kansans wouldn't even survive 10 minutes in a REAL gym before someone would knock their teeth out. It's sad....so sad it's funny.
The weights are heavy, the pool wet, the equipment serves it's purpose, the staff friendly. Being that I am a casual workoutter I didn't feel intimidated by the obviously more fit staff. I went in, did my thing and left tired, happier, and hopefully healthier.
I am staying in Kansas City for two months for work. This was my 2nd time to this location. I tried to go at 9:50pm on Friday night and they were CLOSING! I joined 24 HOUR fitness because I work odd hours and usually go to the gym at later hours. I googled how to get to the next closest 24 hour fitness. When I got there they told me that I didn't have the proper membership to work out at that location. I just want to work out and I don't know why this is so difficult to do so!! IF YOURE NOT OPEN 24 HOURS, THEN DONT CALL YOURSELF 24 HOUR FITNESS
