There is a diamond among the rough at 3065 Cranberry Highway in East Wareham, Massachusetts.
3065 LIVE, opened their doors in April of 2011 and since then have witnessed many peaks and valleys in attendance as well as support. This D.I.Y, diverse and determined venue is currently undergoing “a new breath of Life!” With motivated new owners Jimmy Cotter (of 842 booking & promotions), and Jess Smart (of Thee Midnight Society band) stepping up and out in faith; hell bent on having 3065 LIVE thrive rather than merely survive.
3065 LIVE covers many music genres from Punk-Rock, Metal, Pop-Punk, Hardcore, Post-Hardcore to Indie Rock, Folk, Jazz and the beginnings of Country music. In addition to music, the venue is also home to some great comedy shows, theatre and other various live events!
Plagued with battling stigmas placed on the music venue/scene by the town and those who just can’t seem to see 3065 LIVE in the light it’s meant to be seen in. Along with covering costs and paying rent has made the road to success very long and arduous.
The D.I.Y venues in this area are more or less non-existent. For locals to see shows/concerts traveling is needed. The 3065 LIVE venue is the hub, a common ground for those in surrounding areas such as Cape Cod, Wareham, Buzzards Bay, the South Shore, New Bedford, Fall River and Rhode Island. The “do-it-yourself” way to survive, really isn’t by yourself at all. Any and all D.I.Y venues, if they are to remain do so because of; those who come out to shows, tell their friends/family about the venue, the bands that perform there, and the booking and promotion companies that put on events there. As it’s been said “it takes a village”, that reigns true in the D.I.Y scene tenfold. It truly takes a whole community, a solid scene whose hearts beat for music, musicians and keeping open the small amount of local D.I.Y venues that are still left standing. It is a must for the scene to remain and venue doors to stay open.
3065 LIVE is blessed to have the support of long time patrons, bands, comedians, and bookers/promoters. The hope is that more get involved and those that are already continue to build up the venue, the area and the scene based around it as well as within it.
