What an amazing experience; thanks to the true experts in South African travel experiences! Africa Tailormade organised our safari and what a recommendation they made. The travel was seamless, the lodge was exquisite and the game drives were unbelievable with superb guiding. Over two days we came into contact at very close quarters with: a family of elephants, 5 different leopards from young to a masterful male, all feeding with hyena catching the left-overs, a cheetah after the chase resting then being chased away by a baby elephant, two prides of lions with babies brushing past the side of the open top transport, wildebeest, buffalo, zebras, rhinos and hippos. To top the trip,as we were having breakfast on the final day, an elephant came to visit. A trip to remember, thanks My Africa Tailormade!
We traveled as a family of 5 from Canada 2 adults, 3 kids aged 6,10,11. This is not easy to organize for safari lodges but Alison and Doreen were amazing to do so. Having someone from Africa is a big plus even if we were in Canada no issues even if from a distance. Alison was incredibly patient and answered the numerous emails promptly. She made sure to pick lodges that fit our interests and would take good care of the kids. Our trip exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfect, transports were always on time, safe, efficient. Lodges were amazing and she even surprised us with unexpected gifts twice during our trip. She also managed to get us nice discounts for our various lodges she really tries her best to make sure you get the most out of your money. We travelled a lot and never came across as good as a travel agency than Africa Tailormade. Whoever plans to go to Africa for a tailor-made adventure should really do it with this company!
Sydney helped us book the perfect Safari. She gave us great resort options within our budget, but then helped us add on travel arrangements and booked amenities during our stay. We really appreciated all of her help and would trust Africa Tailormade with future plans.
Without doubt the best holiday we have ever experienced. Can’t recommend this team enough, nothing was ever too much trouble and their flexibility adapting to our needs was outstanding. No doubt South Africa is a beautiful country, but if you are going to go recommend anyone to talk to Africa Tailormade. Every recommendation was exceptional.
I can't say enough good things about Alison Van Deventer and the staff at Africa Tailormade. Originally we were supposed to travel Aug. of 202 and after rebooking us twice due to Covid we just came back from a phenomenal trip. Everything was planned very well and onetime. She was available for us while on the trip to answer questions too. Professional, Available, Responsive and Creative in coming up with an itinerary that did not fail. We did Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Kreuger.
Alison van Deventer arranged our trip to South Africa and Rwanda which included a couple of days in Kigali and gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. We reached out to Alison during the course of our trip and she responded back quickly each and every time. From the local guide Emmy and his travel company in Rwanda, to the accommodations she suggested, everything exceeded our expectations. We had a couple of changes to our itinerary during our trip and Alison handled each one with exceptional speed and professionalism. I cannot recommend her or her travel agency highly enough. When visiting Africa, she is the only one to go use!!
Alison van Deventer is by far the best travel rep I have worked with and I travel a lot. Alison first booked our trip for three couples to South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe for November 2020. Due to COVID she had to rebook us twice in 2021 and 2022. We then had a conflict with our trip dates and she rebooked us for a fourth time. Each time she rebooked she was able to secure us dates in the same lodges which were very small in the same order which was important to us. Each time she was professional, friendly, very patient and overly willing to help us get our trip rebooked. In addition, we peppered her with many questions over the many months before our trip which she gladly answered very quickly. If she didn't know the answer she researched it and got us the answer. The trip she planned for us was truly the trip of a lifetime. Every detail was taken care of and the places she booked for us were amazing. Not only the accommodations but the people. She took care of checking us in for our flights and checking in with us through out our trip to make sure everything was going well. I cannot recommend Alison and Africa Tailormade more highly. If you are going to Africa you must contact Alison!
There are many superlatives in this review as my experience with Alison van Deventer of Africa-Tailormade was outstanding. Alison put together a trip for my family to Cape Town, SA and then on safari in Botswana and South Africa to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had to reschedule the trip twice due to Covid and so she actually ended putting together three trips for us. It was my second safari trip and so I had a basis of comparison. Everything went off without a hitch. Our transports were always prompt, the arrangements to get from one locale to another were executed seamlessly and the hotels and lodges she chose absolutely remarkable. Ours ended up not being an average trip, however, and that is where Alison’s expertise really came through. My son became very ill likely with food poisoning while we were traveling. He ended up in the hospital in Johannesburg. We missed our flight to Botswana and had to spend a night at a hotel in Johannesburg. Within a matter of hours after we determined we could carry on with the trip, Alison had rebooked every single element of our trip which was necessary since the flights to Botswana were booked for the following two days. We had to change both of the safari lodges, change all of our flights and arrange for new and different transports. We even needed additional Covid tests. Not only did Alison handle the situation professionally, but she saved our trip and put together a new itinerary that was just as good, if not better, than the one we had originally planned. I believe it is important to note that if I had worked with a tour operator based in the US this would not have been possible due to the time difference — we would have lost another day. In addition, because of Alison’s experience and the fact that she is on the ground in Africa, she was well known to the lodge operators. They bent over backwards to help her and thus to help us. Alison saved our trip, a trip of a lifetime.
