We watched the Nutcracker and it was an absolute masterpiece. I’d suggest using Uber to the Theatre as you will struggle to find parking. The building is well kept always neat and tidy. The staff is extremely friendly and more than willing to assist with any and all questions. They have an option to order your food and drinks for the intervals even before the show starts - I would highly recommend ordering before hand to avoid the long busy queue at intervals. The bathrooms are extremely clean too. The place overall is absolutely stunning. Side note: Strictly no capturing pictures nor videos were allowed when the show started - I love the idea of this especially for ballet because you genuinely have to be in the moment and take in all the emotions you feel while watching the stunning piece being performed.
Went to watch Cape Town City of Ballet perform Ikigai at the Artscape tonight. All I have to say is...it was an exceptional experience!!! We struggled finding parking, but the security guard let us into the backstage parking lot which was very sweet. Thank you greatly for that. Appreciate it: First of all, the ballet was spectacular, but the whole environment and energy of the space was all in all lovely. There were quite a few people in the audience, which made these auditorium lively and bustling, and the amount of enthusiasm expressed was beyond imagination. The staff were very welcoming and kind. Clean environment and very good looking food was on sale during the intervals. The space is very much sophisticated and high end, but at the same time full of life and freedom in its own unique way. One thing that bothered me was there was no soap in the bathroom and half of the soap dispensers didn't have anything at all. This did make washing hands with sanitizer not a great experience, but otherwise the bathroom was clean. I loved the poster displays of the various ongoing performances, but most of all, loved the red carpet feel going up to teh chandelier foyer. Just pure magnificence and elegance. Enjoyed every minute. Cannot wait for the next performance and experience. Till then...take care

We have watched many shows here and the entire building has always been extremely neat and tidy. All the staff that we have interacted with have always been very friendly and helpful with a smile on their faces. Their clever option to order your snacks/drinks for the intermission before the shows start is an awesome extra so you don’t have to stand in a long queue.
We watched Alcina and it was a Very Interesting Opera. Love the Professionalism of the Staff and the Pop Up Shop was ample. Clean and Neat.
This is my home from home, where I play with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra on a freelance basis. This cannot be an objective review, because whether sitting on stage or in a rehearsal room, or in the pit is where I love to be. However, it is a spectacular venue and the arts, theatre and music programmes that run in this building are worthy of full support from the municipality, the province, national government and from those who live in and travel through Cape Town. The talented people who gather to make music, from players, conductors, librarians and management who make it possible are all immensely committed. So, too, the lighting, sound, technical, admin and support staff who attend to the care of this institution are an asset that is not fully realised or appreciated. I'm privileged to have had the opportunity to live my dream on stage in symphony orchestras and wind ensembles, in the pit for ballets and operas, and in rehearsal with excellent conductors who inspire and share their musicianship.
Absolutely loved the performance, the dancers are very talented, I had a smile plastered on my face from beginning to end!! Also enjoyed a nice cold glass of Chardonnay during interval.
How lovely to be back at the Theater again, especially with an outstanding show such as Giselle. Gorgeous exhibition by Artscape Garderope in the Foyer. It is a great pity that the staff serving the overpriced drinks are not properly trained. It would be really great if some coffee were made available.
Absolutely stunning experience going to the ballet for the first time in years! Exceptional performance of Veronica Paepers' Romeo and Juliet. Such friendly staff who made the whole evening better!
Superb venue, clean and prestige public spaces and restroom facilities. The manager and staff on duty at The Octaves Musical event were very friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Well done to the Artscape team!
