I've been to Baltic timbers many times over many years. I am not in the timber industry so only buy from them for DIY jobs. Today I experienced the height of what one could call consistently bad service. I entered the store and greeted the 6 consultants. Nobody replied. I stood and waited while nobody bothered to even acknowledge me. Eventually, someone approached me while swearing at one of his colleagues. While I tried to explain what I was looking for, he interrupted me saying, "we don't have that" I asked if he knew where I could get it and then he showed me that had something similar. I paid and went to collect my order.again,i had to compete with the staffs preoccupied schedule of passing the time to get their attention. The guy took my order and disappeared. I got in my vehicle and after a few minutes I heard something moving in the load bin. My order had been offloaded. I got out to say thank and I checked the order. It was incorrect. When I tried to call the guy, he was gone. I walked over to the kiosk and another colleague called the gentleman. He took the order and walked away. The 2nd time, the same thing occurred. I checked the order only to find that the one length of wood was damaged and that he had loaded the order with the revealing side facing down. At this point I was annoyed as he was already about 25 meters away. I shouted at him and gestured for him to return. I told him how this is a waste of my time and that he needs to adjust his attitude. That was not well received and I was told no to "trip" on him. Eventually, I got my stuff and left. Yes, this is the longest standing timber company in cape town so you will find almost anything there but the service is non existent. I really hope they can adjust their culture as it is really shameful for businesses to be treating customers in this way

Place is a bit dated but if you looking for timber products chances are they have it

Have not been there for a while, I have missed many of the staff I've known for many years, I understand that most them have retired. I do feel that top management are not particularly , customer friendly. They might have a good reason for doing so, but they also should not be of the opinion that every customer is impartial to cordial customer treatment. I've been in business for about 60 years, thus am able to judge the different of customers with I'll intend and those with good intend and cordial treatmentt is always a requirement!

Great place to get just about anything needed for building. They keep stock of much of the old, better ironmongery, rather than the cheap and nasty imports.

Cape Town local structural timber and building supply timber, efficient service and competitively priced. Not service for cutting to size though, so you need to bear in mind that any cutting will need to be slightly larger so you can trim to size.
