Great value for money accommodation along the Midlands Meander. Beautiful views and everything one needs in a home for a short and restful stay. No wifi, but the 4g reception is good enough which is rare for the area. Granny Mouse restaurant is just a few km up the road and closes at 10pm which is very helpful for a good dinner. The shops are also a 15 minute drive away if you need anything during the stay.
We've stayed at Beacon Vlei twice already, and hope to be back soon again. The self catering cottages are spacious, comfy and clean, with everything you might need. I love the country feel. Very peaceful and pretty.
We were pleasantly surprised by the great atmosphere and friendliness of the place. The owner Alex made us feel very comfortable and at home the minute we arrived. The view over the pond is great. The cottage is pleasant. Our kids enjoyed using the canoes that we where allowed to use. We where given a huge supply of firewood. There are also some farm animals that add to to the atmosphere. Recommended!
Spent a lovely relaxing weekend. So serene and quiet except for the pigeons. The cottage has everything you need. Comfortable beds, walk in shower, braai facilities etc.
We spent a month in the farm house and had the most magical time. The house is large and beautiful, and the views and picturesque walks made it even better. Alex and his team were always available and happy to help. We spent our mornings walking around the farm and our evenings fly fishing on the dam or around the cosy fire. Mtn signal is very strong there 40 down, 20 up on a router allowing us to work remotely seamlessly, with the midlands meander offering endless weekend activities and adventures. Our dogs were also very happy at Beaconvlei. The individual cottages are not fenced so if you have a wandering pup keep them close. We will definitely be back.
Stayed in the farmhouse, it was fantastic. A great place to unwind with an awesome setting. Trails for the fitness oriented, fishing and fireplaces a plenty. Definitely coming back here.
Great location,wonderful clean gardens & accommodation,great hosts & staff. Exceeded my expectations. Will certainly be back for a longer stay.
Let me start by saying I have never stayed at Beacon-Vlei. I was friends with one of the owners. The view from the lakeside is absolutely stunning. The architecture, gardens and general feel of the place is unique, very comfortable if a little bit old and musty in some of the rooms. That being said the lighting in some of the rooms strikes a poetic chord for me, a countenance to some of the other rooms. If you want to getaway I would suggest Beacon-Vlei.
Lovely spacious, very scerene with excellent views. We stayed at boathouse which over looks the dam and you can see the mountains and farms in the distance. They have canoes and boats for usage. The fishing was not very good and the dam is full of Reeds. The house is spacious, with Dstv and lovely lounge area. The kitchen is small and basic, the water takes very long to get hot in showers and pressure is very low.
Were at the Guest Farm over the last week with family members. Absolutely outstanding. It's like being at home away from home, so relaxing.
