"Callie Evens Retirement Lodge was the project of the Cathcart Senior Citizens Association and began operating in 1974. The Lodge is built on the site of the old Grosvenor Hotel in Cathcart. Callie Evens, after whom the Lodge is named, was the motivating force for the development of the Kenya Cottages in Cathcart, which were built to accommodate expatriates from Kenya. These cottages are now a National Heritage site and managed as a trust.The Lodge accommodates 4 levels of care at extremely affordable rates: cottages for independent living, bedsitters, assisted living and frail care. To augment independent living, we have a Cottage Carer Protocol for residents who need assistance with the activities of daily living."
