Africa's biggest kite festival, the Cape Town International Kite Festival, proudly flying in support of Cape Mental Health.

Description

Proudly hosted by Cape Mental Health (CMH), kiters from around the world and thousands of local people come to watch the incredible kites and enjoy family entertainment in support of South Africa's oldest mental health non-profit.

Mission

The Cape Town International Kite Festival brings together people from around the world in a celebration of kiting and creativity, to generate funds for Cape Mental Health, raises awareness of the importance of mental health and highlights the link between physical and mental well-being.

Peaceful and fun for kids. They can make their own kite which is free of charge or buy one with prices starting at R40. There are lots of food vendors, some offer yoco or zapper as payment options but most only accept cash so don't forget to stop at the bank before heading here. Only downside was that there isn't seating options but you are allowed to bring your own blankets, camping chairs and even food with so it's not really an issue. Overall, a lovely day out. Wear lots of sunscreen, it was super warm this year!
Awesome awesome awesome! Kites was creative! Food was nice. Rides was super crazy. Entertainment was local and lekker! The shuttle service was a great bonus too. The free games for kids was throughly enjoyed by my bunch and to get free sweets started the day off well! Great event....beautiful message of hope for all of us struggling with mental health or who are affected by it.
Really nice event for the whole family, brings out the inner kid in us with the rides and candy floss. Wish I could find the times for the live acts and would love to know more about the people flying the international kites.
Very nicd and the kids area also a plus though a bit pricy, you pay to get in and still pay for rides which are over priced for what they are but still great
Some of the food stalls were pricey. It was a good day to fly kites, the kids enjoyed themselves. It was a good day
Awesome place to relax and watch the kites in the sky. Just make sure to put on sunscreen. Has various food options and it is a great place to entertain your kids.

Great fun for the whole family. Being a picnic blanket and enjoy a good day out in the fresh mountain and sea air. All the money goes to a great cause.
