We live in the US and Clive devised a customized tour after talking with us via Zoom. We like outdoor activities, culture, wine tasting and the itinerary he devised was wonderful!! He is very knowledgeable about South African culture, history, politics, flora, fauna, etc and is also generous in sharing that knowledge. The B & B he recommended was excellent. It was in a safe and walkable environment. Plus he’s a very nice person. His assistant, Ian, was also informative and super nice.
Our time with Clive was the best! We had a video call with him in which he got to know what we were interested in doing while visiting the Cape Town area. He then came back with a 5-day itinerary that nailed everything! It included exciting things like hiking up Table Mountain and Lions Head, para-gliding, and swimming with the seals. It also including relaxing things like wine-tasting and dining in Stellenbosch, strolling through Kirstenbosch Gardens, a drive/walk around Cape Point, and a walking tour of the city with a very thought-provoking visit to the District 6 Museum. In short, he will make the experience EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. It was all no-fuss. He arranged all the transportation picking us up daily at our hotel, even a transfer from the airport, tickets, timing, etc. He even advanced our para-gliding by a day because he was keeping his eye on the weather forecast which showed rain on the day we were originally planned to go. He went out of his way to make our trip special/memorable. I wouldn't advise trying to do Cape Town on your own and, for me, the itinerary for a pre-planned large-group tour would include things I didn't care to do and omit things I'd love to do. Cape Town is a long way to travel and having Clive at our disposal was the best way to maximize the experience. We could not have been more pleased with him.
I have traveled all over the world, once or twice a year, for many years. Clive is one of the very best guides I have ever encountered. If Cape Town, South Africa is in your travel plans, do not fail to book Clive as your guide. He is deeply intelligent, thoughtful, well informed and fun. He knows all about the flora and fauna and will guide you knowledgeably in a botanical garden, or in a sculpture garden or when visiting penguins on the sea coast. As a business owner he can comment from knowledge and experience about many aspects of South African life. He took us to wonderful restaurants and bakeries as well as coffee shops and ice cream parlors. He is the best!
I can’t say enough great things about Clive, and I can’t recommend him enough! He was absolutely awesome, and helped make our honeymoon in Cape Tour our favorite trip of our lifetime! Clive is a legendary guide who goes above and beyond, he’s a renaissance man, he’s highly professional, and he’s very passionate. We first began planning our honeymoon in 2019, and only finally made it to South Africa in February 2022. Due to Covid, we unfortunately had to reschedule multiple times, but Clive assisted us each time. He helped us navigate through all of the uncertainties, and we’re so lucky that we stuck it out! When we finally made it, Clive picked us up at the airport and the fun and excitement began right then and there. During our week in Cape Town, we went with Clive on a tour of Table Mountain, on an amazing orientation tour of the city, on a tour of the Cape Peninsula, on a tour of the Winelands, on a hike up Lion’s Head, and on a bike trip around the Sea Point Promenade. He was able to tailor each of his tours to our likes and interests. Clive intimately knows Cape Town, and when he found out how much we love food, he made sure that we tried the best that Cape Town had to offer, including some of the best coffee, wine, ice cream, and pastries that we’ve ever had! As a guide, he has a wealth of knowledge that is unparalleled and very impressive. From identifying trees and plants, to birds just by their calls, to his explanations of South Africa’s complex history, we learned a ton while having a blast. At our game lodge afterwards, we ended up impressing our hosts and guide with some of the knowledge that we learned from Clive! Clive is a genuinely great person, and we truly felt that we were looked out for during our entire stay. Our week with Clive ended with hugs and goodbyes at the airport, and we’re happy to consider him a friend. We’re now dreaming of going back to South Africa one day!

Our trip wouldn't have been as successful without the help of The Cape Town Tour Guide Co! They took care of us from arrival to departure and even helped out when we got stuck due to a new COVID variant. Clive is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area, the plants, birds, just about anything you may have a question about! I think my kids learned more in their days with Clive than they would've learned during those days at school. Clive listens really well and works to accommodate your preferences and only recommends things you will enjoy. Clive is flexible and easy-going, he's a delight to be around. Clive was so good with our two teen boys. He had the perfect balance between goofing off, educating them, and stepping in to make sure they were safe and didn't do anything culturally insensitive. When Clive wasn't available to assist, he always made sure we were taken care of and everyone of the staff we encountered were wonderful. We always knew that The Cape Town Tour Guide was one call/text away if we needed anything at all.
Clive was truly the best. His responses to our questions were always quick, his recommendations for things to do while in Cape Town were perfect, and his recommendation and booking for our Safari was beyond our expectations. Clive truly went out of his way to accommodate us. My husband's luggage was lost by the airline between Johannesburg and Cape Town and Clive handled the whole process... and communicated the instructions with us quickly and efficiently via text so we could retrieve our bag. Our experience would not have been the same without Clive. If you are considering going to Cape Town and are debating between a tour guide or not... consider no further, you will not regret booking through Clive. He is the best!
My wife and I used “The Cape Town Tour Guide” for our Cape of Good Hope tour during our honeymoon, and it was phenomenal! Clive was such a pleasure to be around all day. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and fun to be with. Additionally, he has a new Land Rover as his tour vehicle, which keeps you comfortable during your long day. Clive even made sure to include a nice champagne toast to celebrate our honeymoon, which was an awesome surprise and wonderful touch! Out of all the companies out there, I highly recommend Clive and “The Cape Town Tour Guide” for your Cape Town needs!
Clive from Cape Town Tour Guide was a fantastic guide. I am so glad we changed our plans from a standard agency to Clive’s private tour. Clive shared a lot of very interesting history on the trip. He was an excellent driver, and the vehicle was comfortable and clean. Clive is highly recommended.
