We offer riding lessons on well schooled horses by a qualified instructor. We also offer outrides. No previous experience needed. All levels welcome.
Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park is situated 4 km outside the picturesque town of Heidelberg in southern Gauteng on the Boschfontein Road at the foothills of the Suikerbosrand. The yard is a mere 30 minutes’ drive from southern Johannesburg and 5 minutes’ drive from the centre of Heidelberg.
Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park offers the following services:
Riding lessons from beginner to advanced level by a qualified and experienced instructor. The yard welcomes any rider from the age of 3 years to adult. Safe and supervised pony walks are available for toddlers. Riding lessons are offered in the following disciplines: show jumping, dressage, equitation and eventing. Carlisle also welcomes happy hackers and those who simply wish to learn how to ride a horse and not compete. Lessons are either structured group lessons or private lessons.
Livery. The well-being of all horses under our care is paramount, whether it is our school ponies or your private horse. Our grooms have many years of experience and have a keen eye for picking up any problems a horse may have timeously. Horses receive round the clock care.
Outrides. Outrides for the general public are arranged on request, the horses used for these outrides are well schooled, calm and experienced. The yard also offers two annual endurance events. A shorter ride for the little ones or those who are not yet competent in canter and a three-day ride for the more advanced riders. Furthermore, the yard offers moonlight outrides in the warmer months, which is a magical experience.
Pony camps. Carlisle hosts two pony camps during the December/January school holidays. These are guaranteed to be fun filled and educational for the children under 24 hour adult supervision.
Ponies are available for children’s parties or the yard can be used as a venue for your child’s birthday party at our lapa and farmyard.
The yard is also a beautiful location for photo shoots (matric farewell, Valentine’s ball, weddings, etc…).
Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park offers the following facilities:
- 22 large airy brick stables
- 22 large airy wooden stables
- 1 sand arena
- 1 split-level derby arena
- 2 lunge arenas
- Free jump lane
- Group paddocks
- Individual paddocks
The following facilities are currently under construction (construction scheduled to be completed soon):
- 2 tack rooms
- A clubhouse lounge
- A bathroom with shower facility
- A small kitchen with coffee and tea making station
- A hospital block with a foaling block, solarium, crush and isolation stable
A 60m x 80m jumping arena, standard dressage arena, kids dressage arena and trotting track is scheduled to be built in 2017.
