This is going to be such a tough review to write... I love this place! The restaurant was basically deserted when I entered it one blisterry brunch - o - clock... The waitress was just a sweetheart, she was friendly and attentive and felt like a comfortable acquaintance I'd known for a long time. The balance between attention and space was effortlessly managed and whenever she did check in, her face was so sincere it warmed my heart! I don't really know how to debunk my food because it's a combination of perfection in a sprinkle of disappointment, but like the sprinkle bottle got knocked over and fell across the wrong metaphorical cupcakes! I ordered the adorable Lemon Cake, not too much info could be given on the icing etc so I assumed it was a vanilla sponge with lemon icing! I was right -obviously- ... The cake would have been the best cake I've had in a year...unfortunately it was stale! My heart was so heavy because I could taste the medley of deliciousness as the flavors balanced perfectly on my palette...but I could not overlook the sticky almost tacky prestick like icing that had been out for just too long...the sponge was drying in the way that you just know, back in its hey day so like yesterday I guess...it was phenomenal!! So so heartbroken by the fact that it wasn't fresh...this would have been something special!! Now the Caprese Avo Toast... Price wise...I was shocked...it was good value for money in this day and age... The actual toast itself fell short...the finesse was there but the execution lacked, and while I understand how that may be almost contradictory, I did say that I was left perplexed. The cheese was basically non-existent, the tiniest sliver could be found...not enough to peel off the bread and certainly not enough to taste the composition of a caprese anything! Which is extremely sad because the fact that the basil leaves gave that pesto taste without needing the additional oil etc was just so clever and so very French!! Caprese sandwiches are my current favorite thing and this could have been brilliant had they taken the time to lay out the ingredients and make sure that there was enough of everything and if the bread had been toasted with purpose! There is nothing worse than toasted bread that leaves you wondering if it had been left out overnight or just not toasted enough...again...it's very confusing and emotionally conflicting. Honestly the star of the meal was my teeny tiny cutey little cookie that came with my coffee and the highlight of the place was my waitress. My four stars are purely for everything I know this Cafe can be but not for everything that it was today unfortunately! Still worth a visit!!
Disappointing. Despite the lovely decor and exquisite menu, I wouldn't go back. The 'thinly sliced duck breast, cooked to perfection' was essentially raw, and had to go back to the kitchen to make it edible. It was cut across in half-inch chunks like a steak. Broccoli and carrots were also hard and raw how hard can that be?. Despite ours being practically the only table on a busy Parkhurst Saturday afternoon, we had to continually look for service. Wine is expensive and coffee sour. Considerably underwhelmed. Oh, the macaroons were quite good.
Lovely little bistro in the bustling Parkhurst area. Great service, fantastic food, enjoyed the decor best chairs I've sat on in a diner, ever and the coffee is wonderful.
There’s a lot to rave about but I’m going to start with the Crème Brûlée; if you dine at this establishment, you MUST order the Crème Brûlée! It was so amazing, I literally ordered TWO Okay, so here I am strolling through Parkhurst, trying to decide on where to dine on what looks to be 4 blocks of restaurants when I’m greeted by this energetic, charming and inviting gentleman. His energy was so welcoming, the decision was made, Coppa! Lesego was amazing from start to finish. He was energetic, professional, attentive, honest and just so great! Also, he snapped some photos of me since I was solo-dining and hit ALL the angles Food: I ordered the grilled fish paired with grilled seasonal veggies and added a side of creamy mashed potatoes. It was delicious! I also ordered a bottle of sparkling Rosé and of course the two PERFECT crème brûlées. The owner was on-site and he was very nice. He appeared to greet all tables, mine included, and asked for feedback on the experience. The owner also shared some quick safety tips clearly I have tourist written all over me lol which was VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! It’s a small and intimate space where you can be absorbed in your world or take in the sights from the streets on this day there was a street performance taking place in front of the restaurant across the road. Overall, I would absolutely recommend!
My prawn Risotto was delicious. I had a mojito mocktail and that was sweet and refreshing Loved the minimalistic aesthetic makes the place look very clean Can't wait to try the breakfast
Nice and intimate, I enjoyed the duck confit, my first time and I'd go back for it. My husband had their steak and he didn't really enjoy, but of course they not a steak house so it makes sense. All in all, I'd definitely go back. The chef came through to check if our meal was in order and the waitress was forever present in our table
My boyfriend and I needed a chilled Sunday coffee date and I’m so glad we found this spot. I ordered myself a carrot cake and it is to die for. The service was outstanding
Glad to see some actual french dishes, which was really good. The service was the best part though, very lovely vibes.Food: 4/5
Quaint little French styled street side cafe in Parkhurst. Unusual and delicious menu options.
Rude owner. We discovered this place on the Entertainer and he was so livid that the entertainer didn't take down his ad. It's not how fault - however isn't that advertising on his part anyway...? He didn't offer us anything complimentary. Nonetheless, tasty food and desserts.
