A really tiny place with extremely limited seating. Food was great, service friendly. I had a steak it was tender and juicy. The bbq sauce is a bit too sweet. Also tried the burnt basque cheesecake it was okay. The caramel cheesecake is divine. I will be back for another slice of caramel cheesecake. Dietary restrictions: Halaal
Hidden gem that has the combination or great service, good food and a lively ambience. The portions are generous and so tasty. Will definitely go back to try more off the menu. So far the toasted steak is what i have had and I can highly recommend it.Food: 5/5
Epitome of "do not judge a book by it's cover". I've driven past Cafe Crave so many times meaning to pop in, but the the plain facade never had enough persuasion. My car happen to breakdown right next to their parking area the previous evening. Today while waiting for the tow truck I took the opportunity to have coffee. Wow! Character and ambiance in total contrast to the outside. My photos and video don't do justice to first impression. Friendly waitron with fast and efficient service. Decided to order their smashed avo & toast all-day-breakfast. To my delight the smashed avo looked exactly how I remember it from childhood nowadays you order smashed and few meagre chunks or slices arrive on your toast. They only had ciabatta bread on offer at the time, but it was toasted to perfection! Just the right amount of crunch and soft buttery centres. Nearly forgot to take a pic too! I had quite a bit of work to complete so a 2nd cappuccino was needed LOL. Found it hard to leave the relaxing yet oddly productive atmosphere! Apparently after lunch the establishment becomes quieter so if you are looking to escape your home office I'd highly recommend Cafe Crave as an alternative! Not sure if they have WiFi, I carry my own WiFi with me.
Quaint little space. Could get overcrowded real quick and if you like space between tables then make a reservation for one of the booth tables. This was my 2nd visit to the establishment as a walk in and it wasn't packed as I was between rush hours. Vibrant, friendly and very helpful hostess. The 3 egg Omelette was tasty. Strawberry milkshake The grilled cheese and chips was divine. Coffee The all day breakfast was ok, toast was too hard , could hardly bite through it and hubby just left it. Mango & Orange juice I crumbled some in my salad and it made it tastier. Lemonade & Passion Fruit The menu has something for everyone and they have quite a selection of tea's and other non alcoholic beverages. Fully Halaal Parking: Very limited space in front of Cafe.
Even though I blindly recommended this cafe to the Hubster a few times to take friends to on two separate occasions, this was the first time I actually visited it myself. This is a quaint little cafe with a yesteryear feel, loads of vinyl records, and CDs on show, where the tables and chairs have that 60's diner feel in a relaxed and homey atmosphere. The waiters are quite attentive, and the restaurant seems to have gained favour with the locals, making it a firm favourite of more than a few patrons. They have the magic words on the menu "All Day Breakfast". I chose the Crave Breakfast which is served with toasted brioche. Let me tell you this breakfast was divine, the scrambled eggs were creamy and soft, the mushrooms were well spiced, the beans, salt meat and sausages were tasty and the brioche bread .... was lightly toasted but beautifully crispy. I must have been extremely hungry because I did wish that I'd ordered an extra egg. I'm glad I didn't though, because that gave me an opportunity to indulge in a brownie for breakfast dessert!! A delightfully sweet but not overpowering luscious brownie. I could not finish it alone though, the boys had to help. The Hubster had the chicken wrap which looked loaded with chicken and salad and my son had eggs and toast. They have a full cabinet of desserts, so a great place for cake and coffee or tea, the teapot and cups reminded me of the type they used to serve tea on the long distance trains in an era goneby. They also stock specialty breads. The staff informed us that when they don't have loadshedding, patrons are able to request any of the vinyls records or CDs to be played while they eat, I look forward to doing that next time. There's very few parkings outside the cafe, might be a good idea to park in KCs parking and walk across to the cafe.
The food was so delicious, great portion size, fresh ingredients. The coffee was great! And the blueberry lemonade was surprisingly tasty! I would give the food 5*, however; the vegetarian options were extremely limited and lacking, and there are no vegan options or alternatives. The service was absolutely terrible. When my friend and I arrived there was only 1 other patron seated. We received no service for 30mins, and had to call the wait-staff in order to place our order. I never received the water I asked for and no further service once our food arrived. The food arrived within a reasonable amount of time, so the kitchen staff are definitely on the ball. This is a quirky little restaurant, the walls are covered in shelves of CD's, casettes, and LP's! A music-lover's dream. I will happily return, however; it would be great if your wait-staff you were more aware of the customers, as it was quite frustrating. Vegetarian options: Extremely limited, only about 3 options. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly Parking: About 5 parkings are available outside the restaurant, and ample street parking. Or, if you prefer, you can park at Kenilworth Centre and walk across as they are directly across the road from that parking entrance. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible. However, it is only one stair to get into the restaurant, if you have assistance to lift the wheelchair. Dietary restrictions: No vegan options or alternatives.
Throughly enjoyed our experience at Cafe Crave, popped in for a Cuppa and a slice of their devine Cheesecakes on offer and we were not disappointed, I love the deco around the ceiling of old LP's Vinyl Records of yester years, the display of Coffee and Tea's boxes that's also for sale to buy is such a cool idea, Wishing the team of Cafe Crave all the best and success
My mom discovered this gem by chance and asked if we could give it a try. I tried calling but the number was busy I would later discover why so I tried my luck via email. I got an immediate response via WhatsApp and we booked our table for 5. On arrival we were given the warmest greeting by all the staff and shown our table. The place was already buzzing with so many people and it was only 10am hence the phone situation. The waitress who helped us was just the cutest ever just a shame I didn't get her name. She even helped us decide which breakfast options to choose. Food came and it was massive portions and extremely delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We had bit of a mix up with myself and dad's order but Liaqat/leeyaqat sorted it in no time. I cannot get over how amazing the scone and caramel cheesecake was so I'll definitely be back for more. And to try their steaks as Liaqat suggested. FYI parking isn't the best so take that into consideration All in all a great experience and would highly recommend giving it a try.
I was really surprised at this quaint restaurant situated opposite Kenilworth Shopping centre. Very intimate and cosy. Soft music and very relaxing. An ideal restaurant if you need to get away from the crowd. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The burger I had was delicious and very filling. Very friendly service. The only problem was that the toilets are on the outside to the back. Overall it’s excellent with lots of character and warmth. Well done
I've been to their establishment about 5 times. Every time I have been there, the food has been great. Their waiters serve with a smile and I've never had any issues with requests I've made. You can also request music from the collection of CDs on the wall, it's a really fun addition.
