We were bought a Spa Day with Massages for 2 as a gift at Crowhurst Park. As I had a voucher, I contacted the ever-patient Alice who never showed any irritation at my seemingly endless ream of queries asking about our upcoming visit and was much reassured. From the moment we arrived the gentleman on reception was immediately attentive and directed us to the Spa reception area upstairs. My partner had recently had an operation which we drew to the attention of his masseuse who was careful to ensure that we were always comfortable. Having our massages at the same time in the same room was a first for us and made for a wonderfully relaxing experience. Both offered a firm but gentle massage which we couldn't fault. We then changed into our bathers to go straight to the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room where Georgia kindly led us to the areas in question and clearly explained how it all worked. As we'd brought our own towels etc. we didn't check on whether these were provided or not but needing no cash for the lockers is a definite bonus. The pool was a decent size and relatively quiet. A guest told us that children are not permitted in the area over lunchtime apparently? There were a few 'sun' beds around it, but it would benefit from some additonal seating, if for no other reason than to deter people from ‘parking’ themselves in the jacuzzi in between dips. We only stayed in the jacuzzi for a few minutes ourselves as it was so very fierce and heavily chlorinated. Perhaps this was to deter the use of it by children? We were surprised to see a notice that said it could be used by 8 year olds and up, as this is the first spa we've been to where young children were even allowed to use the jacuzzi! We didn’t notice whether there were any ‘no children’ signs at the doors to the sauna and steam rooms though. These had the usual seating capacity for 6 or so people but were never crowded at the time we visited. We passed up on the gym as hunger got the better of us, but we never felt rushed at any time and our stay was pleasant and leisurely. The changing rooms are on the small side. At the time I was readying myself to leave, there were about 6 adults and a child in there doing the same, which felt like it was at capacity. With a dozen or so lockers, 4 shower cubicles, 2 private changing rooms and 2 hair drying stations, it at least has everything you need. Although swim suit spinning dryers would be a welcome bonus. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The public areas were very clean and the staff were all very personable so we definitely want to go back!
We arrived at the “spa” and were told we did not get a towel…. I’ve never had a spa day where you don’t get given a towel?! So the receptionist said - yeh sorry about that is it okay? I said “no not really we will need towels” so she came back with someone’s hand towel from the gym?! And some kind of kids towel as well that she has found! I said can we not have one from the treatment room? She ended up getting us towels from the treatment room but this took over an hour and by then we had had enough of sitting in a tepid jacuzzi. The sauna was good, but the rest of the facilities were dated and dirty. The toilets stank! And being in the changing rooms was so horrible as it was so unclean! I hadn’t brought flip flops as I thought we would get slippers - being a spa day and all. The treatments were nice, but they were done in a very bright room - which was not at all relaxing. The main building where we had afternoon tea was so dated and dirty again, but the afternoon tea was actually okay taste wise for £7 each! The staff were all friendly too. The outside seating with shade was very limited and only benches. This place was strange and not relaxing at all. Me and my friend did laugh about how bad it was and the towel situation though but I would not recommend.
Crowhurst park in its self is an ok place the staff at both the leisure centre and manor house are friendly and welcoming and the food and drink are good. The spa however is another thing the young girl on reception is rude and doesn't know what she is doing the rooms are dirty and dusty and the linin is discusting and there time keeping is ridiculous. While using the gym the following day I herd the girls from the salon making inappropriate comments about a fellow gym user and will be speaking to the manager of the leisure centre on my next visit as he wasn't available the day I was there. I watch a staff member sit outside while a customer was waiting to be served for 15 mins the salon seems to have gone down hill in the last couple of months I will not be recommending to anyone to visit here in the future.
Wouldn't go again. Price is low but the experience was not what we normally expect from a spa day. Robes thin and dirty no rope to tie round the robe either. Jacuzzi horrible colour and not very warm. Not enough seating so not sure why they book in group spa days. Treatment room cold. Staff seemed quite rude and cold towards us too which was off putting.
I was at Crowhurst park today and feel children were acting inappropriately in the tub. Not sitting down and playing ball. Are you insured for such behaviour if an accident happened. Children should only be allowed in the tub if they are sitting down and acting correctly. It is not a play area. The bubbles were continually working which puts costs up for the club and therefore patrons cost will eventually increase to cover such costs. After mentioning it to the staff the children left the area. Just because parents say their child is eight does not mean they are.
A wonderful 3 nights for friends wedding. Great facilities for a wedding that is the last one ever here - that's a real shame. Very good meal in the restaurant too.
I've never left a review for anything before. I visited for a 'blissful spa day' for an early mother's Day treat for my mum. This included use of the spa facilities and a 30 minute massage. First bad part started with the smell in the changing rooms, it was disgusting, the toilets weren't even located in the changing room. Then we used the pool which was okay, the whole building looked like it needed a clean though. Everyone working there looked bored. Sauna was okay. Steam room was temperamental nothing special. Jacuzzi was barely working or maybe it was just bad, just a couple of jets going. We didn't use the showers to wash off the chlorine after the pool because of the smell in the changing rooms. We left the pool area to go to the main house for coffee, the inside of the bar/restaurant is dated and didn't feel very welcoming so we left to get coffee out of the park and returned later for our massage. We sat waiting at half past the hour when our massage was supposed to start, and we were told they were just getting the room ready for us, we didn't mind waiting. After getting changed, the massage started at around quarter to the hour and finished on the hour. So instead of getting half an hour we got 15 minutes each. The girl that did my massage sounded like she was ill. I've had a lot of massages for my back problems and this one was not good. My mum's maybe was a bit better, assuming she had the more experienced masseuse. I didn't want to cause a fuss there as it was supposed to be a treat for my mum but it doesn't warrant being called a 'spa day'. Maybe 15 min massage and use of leisure club. Fortunately we had a laugh together about it but that wasn't really the aim of the day.
We are staying in Lodge 104 which has fantastic views to the sea and Beachyhead in the distance. The lodge itself is OK but you have to bring your own towels !! It also has a gas oven which takes a bit of getting used to. The site is well maintained and the reception staff are excellent.
I enjoyed my spa day which I won on a Facebook competition. Firstly I went to the cafe for a panini, followed by a lovely swim, sauna and steam. It was then time for my massage and facial. Both were great, staff very good.
Great swimming pool gym food caravans all that stuff it's great
