A vision was born. In 1986 JCI purchased the company Dainfern Investments (Pty) Ltd and submitted an application for a township to be known as "Dainfern" to be developed on the outskirts of Fourways. This pioneering act would see Dainfern develop into Gauteng's first Residential Golf Estate. The Dainfern Township was proclaimed in 1992 extending over an area of 320 ha which included the Gary Player designed golf course 81,9265 ha in extent .
The Dainfern Golf Course, designed by Gary Player and opened for play in 1991, is a Championship 18 Hole Golf Course which offers a first class golfing experience. This statement is qualified by the fact that the golf section has played host to both major amateur and professional tournaments. It is located on the old Fourways golf course site with the only hole still in use, from that of the original course, being the 8th Par 5, which crosses the Jukskei River twice.
Gary Player Group
With the advancements in technology over the years Dainfern has made a series of changes in consultation with the original course architects and designers. Phil Jacobs was part of the original design team and in consultation with the Gary Player Golf Course Design Group has advised and ensured that none of the original designs have been lost but rather improved.
In 2008 a significant decision was made to reverse the course layout back to the original design where the Par 5 would serve as the finishing hole. This decision has led to the nines being reversed in order now.
