I spend my 30th birthday experiencing their 5 course meal and wine tasting. It’s honestly breath taking. The service, the hospitality and the atmosphere was iconic. Everything was well executed. The host Lauren was also exceptional and very welcoming. I would highly recommend this place. It was definitely a night to remember.Service: 5/5
The best food you will ever experience, and the best wine selections. Lots of character classic Free State farm with modern touches. Won't disappoint. Great venue for weddings or events. Attention to detail.. Food & drinks: Exceptional food the best food to be found in Bloemfontein area although on n farm 40km south of Bloem towards Colesberg N1
Had a great stay at De Oude Kraal for my birthday weekend. The spa is beautiful and has lots of facilities. The massage could've been a bit more technical but overall a good experience. We stayed in room 8. It was large and comfortable with a lot of attention to detail even including things like an iron, hairdryer, umbrella, etc. The shop has great variety including candles and diffusers that smell great. Staff are extremely friendly and very attentive to try and ensure you have a great time. The rain messed up both the safari and sundowner we were supposed to have. We had a picnic the first night for 2 which could easily serve 4 people, it was amazing. We had a 5-course meal the second night which was also great at the time but both me and my partner ended up with something that could be food poisoning, so we had a terrible end to the weekend. We felt so awful when we booked out we even forgot to give back the key and just settled our account. They weren't too upset about the key like other places normally are, they just asked politely that we find a way to get it back to them. Rooms: Large, clean and very comfortable wirh a fireplace and turndown service Nearby activities: The estate has lots of activities to keep the whole family busy Walkability: Large property where you can go for long walks
The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious although they could be cleaner. We enjoyed the food. There is some gravel driving to get to the venue. Unfortunately for us it was raining the day we left so driving back on the gravel was very slippery. I'd say it would work well if you drive off road vehicle. Place has horses, kids enjoyed that. Rooms: Modern decor. Food & drinks: Really great meals.
I had the pleasure of performing at De Oude Kraal Country Estate for a Corporate Event, what and incredible venue and team. The history, food, facilities and hearts behind the scenes are incredible. Im really looking forward to working with them.
Wow, this place in an absolute gem. From the Spa to the 5 course meal and the accommodation, it was a wonderful experience. Worth every cent and more. We will definitely be back.
The owner was so arrogant she didn't even see us as potential clients, she doesnt care about walk ins to her place. She complained about food. And she kept complaining about noise. But then her stuff know how to treat people. They made me feel welcomed. Big up to them!
Such a gem in the Free State. Modern facilities and so beautiful! The road to the venue is mostly no tarred, with potholes. We attended a wedding here and it was beautiful! The food was amazing. The team at Feast really know how to host a party and cater. Beautiful!
I phoned De Oude Kraal on the 22nd of December 2022 to make a booking for myself and my wife for massages on the 28th of December. I was promised a booking confirmation email. However on the 26th of December I still haven't received anything. I phoned again and again I was promised a booking confirmation email. On the afternoon of the 27th of December I phoned again to request my booking confirmation. I finally received my booking confirmation on the night of the 27th after which I paid in full in confirm my booking, as it states in the email that a 50% deposit needs to be paid to secure your booking. On arrival, at 13:15 as indicated on my booking email, we stood for 10 minutes waiting for someone to assist. Once someone showed up I was informed that my booking was canceled as they apparently tried to phone me the morning of the 28th to confirm my booking and I didn't answer. I showed them my call register for the 27th and 28th and no one tried to call me. They proceeded to inform us to go and have lunch as they are going to pack away the food at 14:00. After about 15min they informed us that we have to wait an hour as they don't have any therapist available, but we can make use of the facilities. I requested someone to please just show us where the different facilities are on the premises and where the lockers and changing rooms were. After 20 minutes, while making use of the facilities they approach us to inform us that they have a therapist available now. We paid top dollar for our massages and for the entire,well known, De Oude Kraal experience, but what we ended up with was a HORRIBLE experience filled with unwelcome, uninviting and unpleasant environment and a distasteful after taste of our De Oude Kraal experience. If anyone would ask me for a spa referral in Bloemfontein, unfortunately De Oude Kraal will not be part of that list. Regards Christo Marx
