Devondale Guesthouse & Venue

It was really amazing staying over at Devondale. I have a suggestion though please - in future please make sure that you specifically ask your guests whether they need breakfast or not and make sure provision is made for it. It was included in our package but we had to ask for our breakfast to be prepared. Not good. But otherwise it was really great to stay over and the spa was amazing.

Wonderful location! Right on the river where we had a delightful picnic. We had a full body massage which was fantastic. If it wasn't for the man blowing leaves for the duration of us signing the forms it would have been 5 stars.Rooms: 5/5

What an experience!!! Was surprised by my husband with a mom's-night-off... A wonderful spa treatment, with professional staff... Beautiful tranquil setting, clean and very relaxing. I had a wonderful massage in the comfort of my room. Which was so beautiful!!! Amazing snacks and spoils.... And a bottle of champagne all to myself!!! Gorgeous place, peaceful and quiet. Both the dog and cat came to greet me, which added to the magic for me. Amazing staff prepared a wonderful breakfast... Really couldn't ask for a better experience. Thank you guys. Will most definitely visit again!!!!

The service was great staff and owner very friendly. The guesthouse is beautiful, and the atmosphere serene. I read terrible reviews and was apprehensive...nothing like those reviews! We were a group of ten and we had a wonderful time at the guesthouse. Thank you Sureya and Sarita

This was the most horrific experience. Please do not waste your money going to this place. It is nothing like it is advertised on their website. On our arrival the pool was GREEN! No effort was made to clean the pool, after we told them we want to use the swimming pool. The spa was even worse. Our appointment was at 17h00, and we were only helped at 17h45. After we complained, the therapist told us she will help us "quickly". The manager said it works like a doctor's appointment, and we should expect that our appointment will be late.. This place is DEFINITLY not 5-star. I wouldn't even rate it 1-star.

The place doesn't look anything like on the website and it definitely does not rate 5 stars. I had booked for a half day spa day and lunch. They gave us a KFC twister with a broccoli salad for lunch. No effort made nothing. We then proceeded for the spa treatment, the robes we changed in to were not clean and had a funny smell to them. The chairs we were sitting on for the spa treatment were dirty, the massage table and the towels were not cleaned. The carpets were dirty. The river view they are promoting on the website is not there. The experience was horrible. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. Very disappointed

Lovely setting, right on the banks of the river. Quiet and relaxing and the room was near perfect. The shower took some getting used to but it did its job and the bath was huge. The massage was good. All in all a great relaxing weekend.

My husband booked some couples massages for us for my birthday - what a disappointing experience. We immediatelty complained when we left and up and until today the owner did not even have the decency to contact us since she was not on the premises the day that we went there. The therapists definately have no training at all and our "massages" were nothing more than a poor attempt at a back rub. Our massages were done outside on an undelveloped riverfront were the grass were even cut and right in the sun. It was a terrible experience. We were given dirty robes and uaed slippers to wear which was discusting. When we return to the inside massage room were we changed and left all our valubles, contractors were busy working in the room. When we asked why they were there, he told us that he was there to work and that was it. We could come back in 5 minutes. NO WAY TO TREAT PAYING CLIENTS. All that the "manager" on site said when wr comolained was that she was only working there. Devondale will never see us again. I honestly do not know how they got their 5 star rating. They charge 5 star prices, but the experience and facilities do not even deserve one star.

My husband booked a spa session which included lunch... We arrived to a beautiful and tranquil outdoors until we walked into the spa area to change. We were given dirty and used gowns one of them had make-up. We requested clean ones and were given a gown that was previously used again it had the chocolate wrapping in the pockets. The towels were dirty and when I brought it to the therapist attention she me told it was just oil and I told it unhygienic and filthy. We opted for the outdoor massages and the facilities there were okayish. For lunch we were offered the KFC twister wrap. I asked both therapistt who were now the waitresses if they just offered us KFC wrap to which they responded "we don't know". I requested for the host and she told me she had caters and their wrap taste exactly like KFC which I must add that the chicken is made with secret recipe. I insisted that it tastes and look exactly like KFC and I don't like the KFC meals, she offered me a fruit platter instead. I thought the caterer would make something more filling. The meal was an insult for a 5star place!!! Would never go back and would not recommend. Beautiful place with poor service.
