Dr Deist did Refractive Cataract Surgery on both my eyes and I can just say thank you. Thank you Dr Deist! I am very, very happy with the final result. I haven't been able to see this good in many years. Thank you for the superb support and service I received from the staff. Nothing like friendly and compassionate support when you are about to have your eyes operated on. I will definitely refer my friends and family to you.

I had chosen to consult with Dr Deist due to his great reputation and a referral by a family member. He is a great Dr. The issue I have is the service I received from Janine at the reception desk. I called about a report he was mean to be send to the Optometrist which they didnt receive, when I called the rooms Janine advised that they can't find it and that when Dr was available he would call the Optometrist, this was during the consultation at the Optometrist so that was not helpful. I explained I was frustrated that I paid R2500 for the consult with him which is a lot for me and I don't understand how the report would be lost. What was even more frustrating and upsetting was that Janine was rude and unsympathetic. She said that I was attacking her and she was very cocky and unapologetic. I think people deserve respect, I didn't get it there. I am sure there are other good Ophthalmologist out there. It's a pity though, I would prefer to have stayed with him.

You need to look VERY hard to find a better doctor to provide you with eyecare than Dr Deist! He is professional, always goes above and beyond for his patients. Plus his staff are always so friendly and very helpful.

Literally unbelievable. It is really like magic. I know some people have some pain after having their ICL surgery but personally - it was painless. Within 24 hours of the surgery I can see without contacts or glasses for the first to me for over a decade. Furthermore, I have better than 20/20 vision less than 24 hours later. It is a must do. If you do not have the personal finances and you have medical aid see if you can get your Scheme to pay for it “Ex-Gratia” and ask the scheme what they need for you to claim ex-gratia. Trust me, it’ll annoy them but they will help if you follow the right steps :

Flew in from London for a booked consultation and laser eye operation. When I arrived I was told that Dr Deist was away on conference which was frustrating as I had emailed 4 times to confirm my appointment when I hadn’t heard back I called before leaving London and was told everything was still on schedule. Dr Deist would be back the next day so we did all the eye tests to make sure my time wasn’t completely wasted. The next morning after another mix up with my appointment time I had my consultation with Dr Deist only to be told that the laser wasn’t working and they were waiting for a replacement part from Australia. I was still charged R6000 for all the tests and consultation, even though I couldn’t go ahead with the operation. He suggested another treatment that was twice the price and really only used for people with cataracts, I would have to order lenses from Switzerland and go under anaesthetic for them to be inserted into my pupils. After doing some of my own research it was clear it was just about the money and not they best solution for my treatment. Absolute waste of time and money. Esp as I should have never been advised to go ahead with any of the tests and consultation if the laser wasn’t working. Very unprofessional receptionist and unhappy with how the whole process unfolded especially for someone who is meant to be at the top of their field. Would not recommend.

What a great experience. Really nice and efficient staff. Dr Deist is on time. Had lasik done and couldn’t be happier. Was such a easy and fast process. Will highly recommend.
