Dr Shamima Bhorat (Gatesville and Tokai):
-Attended the University of Stellenbosch and after graduating in 2000, rendered her community service at the Idas Valley Dental in Stellenbosch. Thereafter she left for the UK where she worked at Gibraltar House Dental Clinic,a busy sedation practice in Kent. There she gained experience in all aspects of dentistry.
-On her return Shamima worked at various private practices in Cape Town and as a clinical supervisor in Paedodontics at the University of Western Cape dental faculty.
-In 2005 she opened the Gatesville branch of S Bhorat Dental Clinics at Melomed Gatesville Hospital. In 2010 she opened the Bellville branch of S Bhorat Dental Clinics at Melomed Bellville Hospital in the northern suburbs.
-Shamima believes in delivering the highest quality dental care to all her patients in a caring and professional environment . Shamima has a special interest in treating children and her gentle and sympathetic manner helps them relax and feel comfortable. Everyone should smile with confidence and Shamima creates beautiful smiles for her patients using the aesthetic tools of veneers, crowns , orthodontic and whitening procedures.
Dr Shaahir Hurribunce (Tokai):
- Qualified at the University of the Western Cape in 2013.
- He completed community service in Qwaqwa - Free State, subsequently working at the UWC Oral Health Centre's service rendering department and following on to private practice starting 2014.
- He is currently busy with a postgraduate diploma in Aesthetic Dentistry, and is easily approachable, engaging, patient and fond of children.
- Actively involved in community dentistry and serving those most in need outside the work place. Interests include minor oral surgery and treatment under sedation.
- He practices by the quote: "Treat every patient as if they were family."
Dr Ragiemah Jassiem (Bellville):
- Graduated in 2008 from the University of the Western Cape with a Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry.
- In 2009 she did her community service at the SANDF Wingfield dental clinic.
- Ragiemah started at the Melomed Bellville Dental Rooms in January 2010 and has been there ever since. In 2012 she completed a post graduate diploma in the field of paediatric dentistry, which is where her passion really lies.
- She is also very passionate about preventative dentistry and loves imparting her acquired dental knowledge across to all of her patients.
Dr Danielle Cannon (Gatesville):
- Qualified at the University of the Western Cape in 2008.
- After completing her community service in Kimberley in 2009, she returned to Cape Town and locumed for various private practices in the northern and southern suburbs.
- She joined the Gatesville Melomed dental team in 2015.
- Dr Cannon has been serving as a clinical chairside supervisor in the Oral Surgery Department at UWC since 2013, where she assists the students with their clinical skills at the Tygerberg and Mitchell's Plain Oral Health Centres.
- She also assists a Maxillo-facial Surgeon in theatre at Gatesville Melomed Hospital.
- Dr Cannon has completed a post-graduate diploma in Sedation and pain control at the University of the Western Cape in 2015 and her focus is to provide a pain and anxiety-free dental experience to all patients.
Dr Eshmie Maharaj (Bellville):
- Completed her dental degree at the University of the Western Cape in 2010.
- Her dedication to her studies earned her membership to the coveted Golden Key Honour Society which is awarded to those whom achieve noteworthy results in their field of study.
- She completed her community service at Maitland Community Health Clinic in 2011.
- She entered private practice fresh out of community service with the motivation to serve the public to the best of her ability.
- She joined Dr S Bhorat Dental Clinic in 2015, bringing her skills to the Bellville practice.
- Dr Maharaj has a keen interest in aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, working with children as well as anxious patients.
- She is currently furthering her skills in cosmetic dentistry and is dedicated to keeping herself updated on the latest advancements in her field.
Dr Jonathan Ziegler (Bellville):
- Obtained his dental degree from the University of the Western Cape in 1996.
- He then worked for the Department of Health for 2 years after which he spent the next 10 years in the UK, during which he completed a year course in Dental Implantology, Warwick University, Masters in Facial Aesthetics, International Association of Advanced Facial Aesthetics London, National Course in Conscious Sedation, University of East London, London UK.
- In 1996 he supervised an International Oral Health Research Programme in Minimum Invasive Techniques in Dentistry in Robertson, Western Cape South Africa, under auspices of the University of Stellenbosch.
- He currently is enrolling in a Master’s Programme in Prosthodontics at the University of the Western Cape.
- He also serves on the International Association of Dental Research Committee, Cape Town and currently is a Senior Lecturer in Crown and Bridge procedures in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, UWC.
Dr Rezia Salie (Gatesville)
-Obtained a Bachelor degree of Dental Surgery at the University of Western Cape in 2008 and did community service at the Military Defence Force in Wynberg.
- Held a position at the Tygerberg Dental Faculty and also worked in the private sector.
-Joined the Melomed team in 2016 and feel privileged to be associated with this esteemed group.
-Currently doing a post-grad diploma in minor oral surgery at UWC where I have also been afforded an opportunity to join the oral surgery department as supervisor to undergraduate students.
I believe in building trusting relationships with my patients and providing the best possible dental treatment to help them maintain good oral health.
