Edenvale Library

The staff member who helped me was breath of fresh air, handling the to transfer my details to this branch was done is the manner one expects - a civil servant with a fine attitude. Every section of the library was pointed out to me and explained - especially that new books could be reserved by adding my name to a roster....a service I'd never been told existed in my over half a century of using libraries.

Unfortunately the trading times are incorrect both online and St the facility itself. We waited from 8-9 as the sign outside stated opening time at 9am including Saturday. Only to find out from asking around that the library only opens from Monday to Thursday. This does not help students at all. School going kids have to be be accompanied by parents and the only time we have is on weekends. Please reconsider trading times.

I spend most of my time in the children's section with my young kids. We absolutely love it here! The librarians are pleasant and helpful and the library is well laid out. They have an extremely well-chosen and plentiful selection of really good books. When I do visit the adult section, I find the librarians courteous and helpful, and there is also an impressive selection of books. Well done!

If you want to bring your kids to this library, don't waste your time here. Kids are not allowed even after I phoned and asked if we could come and was told to make an appoint ment, which I did expressly stating I'm bringing my small child to the library an appointment to go to the library!? Since when?! , I arrived with my 4 year old and 5 month old only to be told by the same Dikeledi I spoke to 30 mins before that they don't allow children in the library. How utterly RIDICULOUS and what double standards. Very sad about this experience on so many levels. Not sure how the people that work there justify their salaries...

I study most Saturdays there, a very quiet atmosphere, a great selection of books! Also loads of space with tables and chairs WITH plug points makes it easier to study.

Hi I have just recently joined this library as I am new to the area. I went back today between 12-12:20pm to hand back the audio books. I had forgotten that we are not allowed to ask for an extension as I had not finished with the Ruth Rendall set of disks. I had finished with my other set that I took out. When I asked if I could take out the one set the librarian on duty said as she was slapping her hand down on the audio book. "No ma'am you.may.not. take. it. out. again. 4 weeks. is. all. you. can.have. it.for. Instead of just saying with a smile on her face " I am sorry ma'am but as you may have forgotten, you would have been told when you signed on that we only sign these out for 4 weeks but perhaps you would like another different set? or maybe get it out again at another time'. I am feeling down already and now feel really sad and feel like an idiot.

Lovely setup. Ample plug points for laptops during study sessions. Bathrooms not neat and clean though although minimal traffic therein.

Sad to see on the website that you are not open on Saturdays anymore as it is the only time i can come through.

Staff are rude and have no understanding that toddlers don't come with volume control. Cancelled my whole families member 10mins after receiving it.

Lots of wonderful books. Friendly staff in the children's section are always helpful and knowledgeable.
