Elsie's Kitchen is a family bakery situated on our farm in the Sundays River Valley in the Eastern Cape. We bake a large range of delicious cookies and rusks, many of them based on traditional recipes from our Dutch Oma.
All of our products are hand made with love and care using the best ingredients and are available from various farmstalls and supermarkets in South Africa.

Ordered Thai swadeeka mini buffet Thai pineapple rice, steam fish, fried green curry beef, fried tempura vegetables, tapioca dessert. Ordered for 7pm but food was delivered at 6pm. Food was not warm by the time my guests came at around 7 pm even though they were packed in warm bag. Quantity is generous but quality is not so great, so so only. Fried or dry green curry beef was mushy, starchy and not tasty although I paid extra for that dish. The steam white fish was quite fresh but the taste was bland as there was not enough sauce which makes the difference in the taste. The only dish which is good is the deep fried vegetables. The rest are so so..
Was recommended by a friend cos of the long history of this caterer but it was a disappointing experience. From the late setup for about an hour to the poor communication and update on the delivery, the person handling the order could not even provide me with a picture of the table that we want to rent, to the food that was tasteless with yellowing broccoli ordered broccoli cos it’s a kids party, I guess this would be our last time ordering from them. The only redeeming factor was the delivery guy kudos to this 1 man who set up everything on his own cos his assistant was on Mc was willing to enlarge our dessert table that we rented, but the table had slightly wobbly legs. Hope that the management could do something to improve the experience for the consumers by addressing the shorthanded staff issue.
Placed an order for 7th September 2022 and opted for self collection at 6.30pm. Sales person confirmed the order and timing for self collection. On the day itself, we arrived on the dot but not a single soul was around. Called the officer number and the person on the other end has no clue about our order and directed us to another number. Called that number multiple times but no one picked up. We loitered around for quite some time and were eventually able to find one of the delivery driver who was able to assist us to prepare the food. The experience was truly disappointing. Never again will we pay money for this kind of subpar service.
ordered the traditional choices buffet for my ward christmas party. everyone loves the food especially the Three Coloured Tangy Sweet Sour Fish & the Fried Mee Siam. Francis, the delivery guy, was patient and accommodate to our needs. Overall I’d book again and recommend this to everyone. thanks once again!
Missed out my tables and chairs, my guests had not enough place to sit. Asked for refund, took more than 1 week still no news. DIY LAKSA noodles was very tough. Only Chap chye and otah were good. Liaise them with caution. Would not recommend.
I placed an order on 25 Oct 2022 and received a call from Priscilla on 27 Oct 2022 to confirm my order. My buffet was for 25 pax, to be delivered on CNY Eve, 21 Jan 2023 at 6pm. Priscilla confirmed everything with me on the call and even confirmed that date of delivery is on CNY Eve. I promptly made payment on 30 Oct 2022 after confirming and received a confirmation on 31 Oct 2022. Come 3 Jan 2023, I received a WHATSAPP message informing me that the latest delivery slot is at 3pm, with collection of the food warmers at 530pm. The sales officer Rena, then suggested for me to either i change full buffet to a mini buffet - this can be delivered at 6 *note: mini buffets has no warmers and come in disposable packaging OR ii have the buffet delivered at 3pm. I am having a reunion dinner, not a high tea. Invitations have been sent out to 5 families, and I have family coming in from New Zealand for the dinner. Where am I going to get another caterer a date so close to CNY? Due to the number of people, it also doesn't make sense for us to go to a restaurant we checked and one table is 688++, and we will need 3 tables. I do understand that they have resources issue since it is CNY Eve, but my point here is i this is not the first CNY in history and Elsie's kitchen has done many of such festivities before ii my order was confirmed personally by the sales staff iii it is very irresponsible to sabotage customers with no ample time to find an alternative. Long story short - I decided to get a refund from Elsie's kitchen and decided never to order from them again. My family of 25 people now have to chip in and prepare ingredients for hotpot, jeopardizing families' original plan of running their errands before the buffet. This is not the first time such things has happened. almost 5 years ago, I had the experience of Elsie delivering the baby full month buffet almost 2 hours late, when I specifically mentioned i only have the venue for 3.5 hours, and asked for them to come in to set up the food 0.5 hours after i signed in to the venue. it was truly embarrassing with guests waiting around without refreshments. Management, please work on your timeline planning and up your service level. This is unacceptable.
Ordered catering for 40 adults and I received food that is sufficient for 40 children. Definitely sufficient if you are doing a children party without adults or a diet party
Bad service. Emailed to requested for quotation but still no reply for a week. Called to check if they received email, but only replied curtly that the procurement/finance teams will reply with quotation when they get to it, no other explanation and hung phone.
Horrible food! Taste so bad.. no taste at all. Everything all dry!!! What a christmas! Taste so bad worst than like hospital food
