Amazing hike indeed. The scenery and the views are great. There is a lot of wildlife along the trail, which was very intriguing to see. Very open trail, which means you are exposed to the sun 80% of the time. Bring anything you need to limit the heat onto your skin. The trail markings are not that visible in the beginning and on some T-junction spots along the way, especially on top of the mountain. You might get lost. When we started we were told of 3 different routes, 5km, 15km and 21km, we took the 15km, but it's actually about 13km. Which was a bit deceiving. Overall, it was a good trail, very challenging, flat most of the time, upand downhills here and there. We really had fun
Our stay was very nice , we were received by a very help full assistant. However, the pool was unservibeable, and we had to swim in a portable pool. We could also make use of the nearby dam to cool down after the 21km Hike. The hike was perfectly laid out, and all the animals were in great condition. A pleasant hike with spectacular views, water needs to be carried as there are no water points. On our stay, there was training and after 1800, the learners were noisy until late. Everything was clean and power sufficient . Thanks for a great weekend.
This is a beautiful place but has a few downfalls. The campsite is extremely noisy until very late at night. The pool is empty which is sad because we were there in a heatwave. Ablutions were ok but not great. Shower water pressure and temperature was a bonus. Did the 15km hike. It was grueling, very hot with no trees to rest in the heat but still a worthwhile walk. Animals are in abundance and very easy to spot.
We stayed over on woman's day in one of the chalets and we hiked the 16km hiking route the next day. The chalet was spotless, we had all we needed to braai and prepare a meal. The braai and view was stunning! The staff are very helpful and friendly. A lot of renovations have been completed and they are still busy upgrading some amenities. The hike route is stunning and well marked. Overall a great experience, we were sad to leave . Cant wait for the newly built mountain huts to be done so we can visit again..
A highly enjoyable reserve to visit, especially if you enjoy walking and the beautiful vistas the environment offers. I have visited several times and the most recently the reserve has undergone new management and changes - mostly for the better and I could see the effort being made to fix it up. Camping can get busy and noisy with some people not respecting the "no music" but they have reduced the number of campsites recently. Chalets Legae are modest, but very nice and you have several to choose from, just note that stairs are steep if you chose one with loft beds. Walking is a must, with several trails that are well kept, but there are some swamy bits so keep this in mind. There is a small shop, a pool, kids play area, and staff are friendly. Excellent birding, nice lookout spots to enjoy and some more challenging roads for modest 4x4. Will definitely visit again.
Not only is Ezemvelo beautiful but the staff are exceptional. We had some vehicle issues during our visit and the staff went far above and beyond to assist us, even driving into town to obtain a new car battery for us. I cannot recommend this stay enough. I'd give 10 stars if I could.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Have visited this place many times, and it gets better and better. We will definitely be back. Great spot for fishing too, with Bass, Carp and Car fish. The hikes are very good, saw alot of game, it was great to see the place being cleaned up and built up. Only complaints are that there is over crowding in the campsite on the weekends, e.g Church groups, School trips, and is extremely noisy day and night. It really spoiled the trip!!!!!
A hidden gem! Lovely reserve with lots of game and great driving and hiking trails. The Chalets are cozy and basic but are more than adequate for a weekend stay. Will definitely go againRooms: 4/5
We enjoyed our camping weekend. The ablusions are clean with lots of warm water. The reserve is brimming with a large variety of game. We saw Impala, Eland, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Blesbok, Cerval, Porcupine, Ostrich, Warthog and many species of birds. We did the Ochna Trail which the kids also enjoyed. Great place to rest and enjoy nature!
Best place todo some Hikes within the African nature. This has been the 3rd time in the reserved and I liked it so much !
