This is not the biggest aquarium there is, but it was fun to visit. There are a few tanks with colourful fish, a room with interesting facts about sea life, a pool with seals, another with penguins and two big pelicans. We arrived on feeding time 11:30 for the seals, penguins, pelicans and sharks they're in a tidal pool and the little ones enjoyed throwing fish to the penguins.
The aquarium is small however has some nice options to keep the kids busy, there’s a variety of different fish but take your time going through them else you won’t be there for long. The reception was empty when we got there which can be a problem if you’re not willing to wait for someone to buy a ticket from. The seals looked very happy and we got to see quite a large shark in the outside rock pool even thought there were some strange people looking for things along the rocks there made me wonder how safe those fish were. There was only 1 towel collecting water from the leaking tanks which made me believe they were improving. They also have baby turtles that they will be releasing back into the wild. There are some stray kittens that look like they may need a visit to the vet.
We always have a good time at the aquarium. Lovely variety of fish to see and fun feeding time for the seals and penguins. Little children get to throw the fish for the penguins, so bring along some wet wipes.
Had an awesome day at the aquarium with great knowledge of fish species. It's good to note the feeding times before going because you can actually feed some penguins. The aquarium could use a good tuck shop for snacks, but overall it was a great experience especially for the little one
Wow, haven't been here for a good couple of years, thought we'd get out the house and treat the kids to something different, and a treat it was! My eldest daughter, almost four was so excited! We arrived just before feeding time , which in the morning is 11:30. She got to feed the penguins, awesome experience for her. The place has really changed, expanded with a easy to walk on deck between attractions. Thanks so much to all the staff!
Great place to bring your little ones. My niece enjoyed feeding the penguins and seeing "Mr Krabs" in one of the tanks it was a lobster. I just wish there was more variety. The place is clean, but the towels under the leaking tanks kinda ruin the appearance. I suggest bringing some snacks because there is no tuckshop inside.
It's a small, cute aquarium with an outside area overlooking the ocean - suitable for a short visit with kids in my opinion. They don't take card payments though, only cash and the nearest ATM is about a 5 minute walk from there. Might be important to also mention that feeding time for the seals, penguins and birds is at 11am and 3pm.
Nice little trip to the aquarium today with the family the place is a little run down but that is only because of funding and the recent flooding. The staff are fantastic and it’s well deserved visit which will also benefit the aquarium to. Just a warning that there are no lifts here and a fair few stairs to go up and down.
I hadn't been to the aquarium before and while taking a drive on the beach my younger sister and I decided to pop in. The timing could not have been better! We made it just in time for the feeding. Although the seals were a bit full from their previous meal, the penguins were so adorable and ready to feast. Each penguin has a color coded band which helps the care givers identify each individual penguin. I could go on and on but it's definitely worth checking out. I found it very informative and also made some new penguin friends. So when you're at the beach pop in and see how our lovely small aquarium makes a huge change in these little fellas lives.
Expected lots more for the pricing couldn't really do with an major upgrade and staff need to be in a proper uniform so they are identified...poor poor Eatern Cape ..
