Lovely experience with the family. We spent the weekend. Took walks, swam, had a braai, went for game drives and on the morning horse ride. Good stop for a local holiday with kids. Please note, we stayed there years ago. I'm not sure how the reserve has aged
I was pleasantly surprised to be told at the gate I qualified for a free pensioner pass at 60. Drove around the whole reserve and saw lots of animals. Even a lion walking back from the feeding site missed feeding by two hours. I cannot comment about facilities as I did not use them, but aside from the ladies having a siesta at the kiosk, everyone was very nice and accommodating. Roads a bit worn, but fully passable at a game viewing speed. Nice escape from the city within less than an hour from Joburg:
Nice for a drive. No restaurant, no kiosk Animals seen: Eland Giraffe, Warthog, Springbok, Black Wildebeest, Red Hartbeest, Impala, Oryx. Take your own food and use the bathroom at home before you visit. Chalets seem unused and the general look of the buildings are unkept. Lion camp was closed and overgrown Bird Aviary is a mess and overgrown
The place is great and all, one thing I like the most was the hiking, camping and bomb fire. I was only unsatisfied with the hygiene of the bathrooms
Being out in nature so close to the city is really fabulous. Just a pity that there is no restaurant or kiosk to buy cool drinks. Hopefully that will be rectified soon.
Came here for Horse Back Safari. OmG that was so wonderful and amazing. Great tour and seen Zebras and Giraffes and much more of South Africas diverse game life. Truly impressive and very relaxed. Horses are well kept and we had an amazing guide. Karen is taking you onto the tour and telles you alot about the animals. What a great experience

Would be great if you told everyone that you are closed. Driving all that way to find out it's been closed since 2020 for renovations. Waisted my birthday driving out this side.
