I was sick and went to Dr. J van der Spuy for a consultation. The service was impeccable. The lady at the reception was warm and welcoming. Dr Spuy was also exceptional. He did the required tests and fully explained to me my diagnosis. I fully recommend their services.

One of the worst mistakes I made in my life was associating myself with Dr van der Spuy as a GP. Highly aggressive knows everything not a good listener overules whatever you tell him with hos own viewpoint. BAD NEWS !!

Received an sms regarding an alleged account. I’m not even a patient nor have I consulted with the doctor. Called the number I was told that they open on the 9th and the receptionist asked if it’s regarding the sms.  I confirmed and she said I should ignore. I then went further to indicate that I’m not even a patient and she further asked if I work at standard bank or if I have family members at Standard Bank and I said no. Was told to call when they open  Something seems suspicious.

These individuals are absolute fraudsters.  Please be aware of them. I received an sms this morning stating that I should call Tania with regards to my account. When you call the provided number no one picks up.  How can I have an account with you if I have never visited your rooms or asked for your service?

This doctor needs to learn about having a sense of sensitivity and empathy for his patients. When I visited him, he would not even let me finish my sentence without inserting his opinion which in general brushed off whatever symptoms I mentioned to him. He made me feel like everything was in my head. I told him I would not have visited if I did not need to, and although he was thorough in his physical, his emotional approach to his patients lacks the openness, understanding and comprehension of other doctor-patient relationships I've had. Empathy turns a good doctor into an amazing one, which is why I consider this one an average doctor.

The GP Dr Johan-something told me "I am not your leave officer" when I had told him that my cold has gotten worse, fatigued me and started affecting my work. He was so dismissive because he thought there weren't any signs for my cold to be something more serious, even when I had outlined my symptoms and had simply said that it feels like a bad cold. I didn't feel listened to and although I am not a medical expert, I deserve an opinion because it's my body. I disliked the experience and will not go there again - although his receptionist was professional and helpful.

This place has a doctors section, a dentist section, and even a waiting section xD. The doctor that I went to was a very friendly and informative Doctor Doctor J van der Spuy, even the receptionist was kind, friendly and welcoming probably because they wanted my money... but hey, what's new?. I would still recommend this place if you are in the CBD of Johannesburg.
