Relaxed little spot with overall good service. Visited on a Saturday morning. The wine selection was a bit limited but well enjoyed. Didn’t really enjoy the cheese board however. Would come back for more tasting
Gerakaris is such a quaint hidden gem in the middle of Joburg. A cute little wine farm that transports you from the hustle into a quiet backyard space where you can taste all the wines on offer from the Gerakaris family. The tasting is R80 to try 5 wines, and you can get a cheese board for an additional amount. I do feel like they should maybe include a few non-alcoholic options for the designated drivers in the group, and maybe a few more nibbling options. Otherwise it’s a charming experience and something different to do in the city. Also the visit from Thomas the cat was very welcome.
One of my favourite places in Johannesburg. Love the story behind the name and the wines. We go here a lot. The cheese platter is awesome as well
The service was good and friendly. if you expect a CPT level wine farm or any other wine farm experience you will be disappointed. Buy for the Johannesburg context is probably one of the best wine tasting experiences you could get, I guess, particularly away from the fussy The wine is ok and a the tasting of about 5 wines is very affordable. Book in advance for weekends
Wasn't a fan. The wine tasting is done from one glass and the glass isn't rinsed. So the tasting wasn't all that good because of that. There's a bee nursery there so there are a lot of bees but that wasn't explained. So if you are allergic to bees this isn't a good place for you.
Jan and the team were so welcoming and lovely. The most delicious wines in the most beautiful setting. Must visit!
A beautiful hidden gem, the service was great, and the tasting experience was made even better by these two factors. Definitely would recommend for a weekend activity.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Great experience, a hidden gem in the middle of Joburg. Both the wines and the cheeses were well paired and flavourful. Definitely recommend visiting here
Such a lovely evening tasting and comparing wines, paired with delicious cheese and wonderful informal conversations with the wine maker herself. I hope that they do more of these evenings as it was totally worth it and a great experience.
Did the wine tasting with a cheese board for a second time it was still lovely. The scene is quiet and tranquil - a good change from the hustle and bustle but still in Johannesburg. Will be returning for their wines. Highly recommended for an affordable quiet outing!
