A very nice park to relax either solo, or with friends and family. The entrance is free, food and alcohol are allowed in. The lake there got a nice view with walk paths around it. It's is secured place to the best of my knowledge and also favourable for kids with swing sets and other related stuffs to play with. Picnic area: The picnic area is a clean environment have nice time.
I'd recommend going during the week because it isn't packed. Beautiful scenery, no entrance free.
The most beautiful place i have ever seen in a while, so peaceful, chilled, safe and amazing. There is an option of a picnic, swings, sitting next to the lake, hiking...I'm definitely going to go there again before the end of this year
So quiet. Place is rather unkempt, poop everywhere, and braai stands are messy. Furthermore, the restaurant isn't there anymore, it is just a place for the security to chill. However had a lovely time feeding the ducks and doing some pole tricks.
Nice small park , clean and peaceful
Over time the state of park/farm has deteriorated. If you're not there a group, it doesn't look or feel safe. So I'd be very wary.
The venue for our weekly parkrun, for which I also volunteer. This place could be a GEM for Johannesburg, being in an amazing setting with a mountain backdrop. However, the experience is spoiled greatly by the vast amounts of litter always left behind by other visitors to the park and the raw sewage entering the dam from the suburbs upstream. At our last parkrun for the year, the men's toilets were unusable for so many reasons. The Joburg city municipality is FAILING in its duty to maintain beautiful parks like this. Parkrun volunteers clean up the park, and the employees only come much later and are phlegmatic in their approach to their role. Playground: Newly revamped took months! with a great variety of new equipment. Unfortunately, now, after spending so much, equipment is not being maintained, and the swings screech for lack of oil... Restrooms: Atrocious. Not maintained or cleaned. Men's urinals are always blocked and filled to overflowing. What a pity! Dog-friendliness: Great place for dogs, but please pick up their poop! Picnic area: Could be nice, but spoiled by park visitors who have no idea of or inclination to placing litter in dustbins dustbins are empty and ground strewn with rubbish.
A beautiful park, but A very ugly man we met. A man in white uniform shirt followed us, said he was the stuff of Park office. He said to me he was in shortage again and again. At first I pretend not to understand him, then he said it's not allowed to take photos in ' his' park, we wouldn't like to answer him, then he said we broke the laws to take photos and must be fined, we knew it was nonsense, but at last he said the park closed we must go out, it`s 9:30 am!!!!!! WHY WE Always MEET those men on this beautiful land we loved? WE TAXED, WE DONATED, WE WORK HARD …… WHY WE BE TREATED LIKE THIS!!
It's such a beautiful place but there are not maintaining it properly, they need to cut the grass it's too much
This is an awesome place for a day out with friends, family and it is children friendly. You can have a picnic or braai, play on the lawn and just relax. There is ample parking and security in the vicinity, it is 5 minutes away from the Eastgate Mall and Neighbourhood shopping centre... NB: There is a pond with ducks; a lovely site, but requires caution for kids because it is deep.
