I would like to tell you that my experience with Global Car Rental PTY Ltd has been very reliable and their cars are all new and in very good shape. They are punctual with delivery and after using them 3 times now, my deposit was always returned by the stipulated date as per the contract. I can highly recommend this car rental company which allows those who don't have a credit card to hire a car using their debit card or even paying the rental and deposit in cash which no other company does in Cape Town. Meeting Norman and his amazing team was one of the best things that happened during our holiday in South Africa. Way better then a big impersonal car hire! This company provides the 360 degree feel happy service with the personal touch that not chain store could ever provide. They are extremely flexible, helpful, and provide the best rates that we found. Much more than just renting out cars, like the other big agencies are doing, they took a lot of time to explain where we should travel to, what we should be careful of, and even helped us with other bookings! Lastly, one word about the negative comments below. They are keeping a deposit, from which they deduct the days you used the car. This way you have a lot of flexibility. I can absolutely not understand, why anybody wouldn't be happy here. @norman: wishing you all the best for the years to come! We will see you again!
I have had many experiences with car rental companies worldwide, however my time in Cape Town was made very special by Global Car Rental. Not only was my meet and greet at the airport so very professional, my entire stay was so well planned by a staff that organised my activities and destinations around Cape Town and the Garden Route so well that no time was lost in trying to locate all the places of interest and great beauty. The rental car was trouble free and I will surely recommend this company to many friends and family. Thank you Norman...
DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY, UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR MONEY STOLEN. I have rented a car from them for a single day on December 1st. They required that I pay the full amount by credit card, including the deposit which was 75% of the total cost. As of the date I write this review, I am yet to receive a penny. I have sent 50+ emails to numerous people within Global with 10% response rate, and in the replies, they continued to reassure me that I'm getting my money back. They made silly excuses such as moving to a new system. Norman owner of Global, I dare you to call this post a HOAX or BOGUS. I have sufficient evidence to prove you wrong.
Global Car Rental in Cape Town is by far the worst car hire company I have ever dealt with. We have recently moved to South Africa and needed a vehicle for approximately 1 month whilst we settled in - it turned out to be 34 days. In this time we had 3 different vehicles as they kept breaking down, the cars were absolutely filthy, inside and out and they admitted thay the cars were overdue on their annual service checks. During this 34 days there was a total of four days where we had no vehicle due to the contiuned breakdowns which we even had to negotiate being taken off our bill! They knowingly took payments off our bank cards without our permission and when we asked them about it there was no apology, just this - "yes, I got a bit of a telling off for that". Appaling. Another issue we encountered on many occassions is they say one thing and do exactly the other. "We'll be there in 20 minutes", 3 hours later no one has turned up or even had the decency to let us know why there is a delay. We raised our concerns with the manager who said he would be dealing with us from nowaon but nothing changed, same old problems. We had no confidence in anything they told us. We will have a lot of family and friends coming to visit us and I can say we would never use this company ever again and would strongly recommend anyone else to stay away from them for your own safety!
I'd give it zero stars if possible , be very wary of these cowboys, they will take an upfront charge from your credit card which is supposed to be in case of potential speeding fines,damage etc. Despite 3 calls and two emails to the less then helpful Michelle over a period of two months whereby the refund has been promised, we are still yet to receive our refund six months later. I would recommend a reputable firm instead.
My experience renting a car at Global was great. Friendly staff and they are efficient. I had a hassle free experience like most other companies give. I do recommend them for fast and friendly as well as efficient service.
THIEFS I rented a car in december with them and they tried to steal my deposit. I had to warn them with legal action and send 100+ emails to get it back in March In case these people keep on replying saying they don't know the people who are complaining I can happily provide proof of everything Please don't rent with them because they will steal your money
Crooks, they take your deposit without any intention of returning it. I made a formal complaint to the Western Cape Government, economic development and Tourism department and i urge all of you to do the same. Its a shame for Cape Town that this type of people can have an open door to rip off customers
I rented a vehicle from Global Car Rental, and i have only received the best service from ALL staff working at the Cape Town Branch.They even planned a route for my two days that i was in Cape Town,and delivered the route plan to me at the hotel that i was booked in at 23h00 by the owner Norman Levinson.
