Griffiths and Griffiths.
Proudly South African, we are the premium purveyors of handcrafted, solid Mahogany, English replica heritage furniture.
The humble beginnings of what is now, Griffiths and Griffiths are somewhat of a fairy tale story.
Hard work, meticulous attention to detail and an uncompromising standard of only the highest quality are the heroes of this story.
While raising 3 small children more than 30 years ago, Gladys Griffiths began to restore in her garden, what she knew to be special antique pieces for friends and family.
Her talents as an outstanding restorer of antiques were soon noticed by a greater fold and in 1986 she opened the doors of “Restorers and Renovators”, the business which 20 years later would find its home in Kramerville, Sandton in Johannesburg, and be known as Griffiths and Griffiths.
A family run business, with Gladys’s son, Peter at the helm alongside her, the dynamic duo have grown Griffiths and Griffiths into the continent’s suppliers of bespoke antique replica furniture. Peter has only inspired this already “cut above the rest” company to continue growing from strength to strength.
Griffiths and Griffiths are the premier purveyors of heritage furniture in Africa and today, proudly hold an international reach due to their products outstanding quality, rich and luxurious finishes and unmistakably grand feel.
The business focuses on classic replication of English furniture, with its primary influence being the Georgian and Regency periods. The solid Mahogany pieces are so much more than furniture, and being show pieces, can quite literally transform any room into a beautiful and noteworthy space.
Gladys and Peter both feel quite innately that every person’s home should hold within its proudest space, at least one historical piece of furniture that tells the story of years gone by. Whether this is an antique replica piece from Griffiths and Griffiths or a treasured family heirloom, a classical piece of furniture adds a beautiful dimension to any space within the home.
