Harmony Red Brangus Stud is the oldest Red Herd in South Africa with the latest genetics. Our cattle have smooth coats and long ear to take the heat.
In 1963 my father, Raymond Green, together with my uncle, Alister Tedder, founded the Brangus breed in South Africa. These Original cattle were black.
Whilst studying at University in the late seventies, I decided to cross Red Brahman with Red Angus. This formed the basis of my stud together with some of my commercial cows which I upgraded. Both herds are run on the same basis, often in the same group, as I believe a cow should only be called a stud cow if she performs in a commercial environment.
My Cattle are run in large herds using the Venter-Drewes veld management system. DNA profiling has enabled me to identify the herd sires in a multi-sire commercial environment.
I am attempting to breed cattle free of genetic faults. All calves from cows that have calving difficulties or bad udders are tagged separately and sold for slaughter.
Bulls for sale have been screened twice by Erwin Church and Gary Trethewey. Registered bulls have also been screened by John Baxter, an accomplished stock man.
All bulls have been vaccinated for Anthrax, Vibrio, RVF, Botulism and injected with Ultra Choice. All bulls have been tested negative for Trichomoniasis.
