I did not purchase as the vehicle was sold moment's before I could secure it, though the service that he provided was exceptional. I'm almost jealous of the person that bought from him. We had taken our 2004 Jetta to the dealership on the 24/06/22 as there was an issue with a coolant leak from the water pump seal on the engine was quoted R5577.27 for the repair and was charged for a replacement coolant bottle as the technician, Quentin had broken one of the fittings on the original one so fitted one from goldwagen. Which didn’t seem like an expense that should be brought upon the customer but was. Was told the timing belt and tensioner should be replaced as well but they could not get ahold of the correct parts in time, so they will do the replacement at a later stage when the car comes in for its service. A month and half goes by and the car is due for its service now, on monday morning it is taken through for spark plugs, engine oil and filters to be changed. During the course of the day we were contacted as an incorrect part was delivered for the car so the new part was ordered from goldwagen and that the car would be ready around 4:30. On receiving the car we were told that parts for these cars are becoming harder to source and thus the reason for incorrect part. As well as that he noticed one of the ht leads had been taped back together when he was replacing the spark plugs but was not his doing. Which was strange as only technicians from Hatfield VW had changed spark plugs before on the car so where did this taped back together ht lead come from, as spark plugs were done last on the 29/12/20 by a technician names Kumarin at Hatfield VW. Quentin proceeded with escorting us to pay the bill which comes to R8262.85 for a service, which included R2294,95 for the timing belt and tensioner which they replaced without charging the labour. The car was parked in its bay at home that afternoon around 5pm and around 7pm we decided to go out. On starting the car, the car started shaking abnormally and is moving extremely lethargically and eventually stalling. It is completely undriveable. We called the technician who worked on the vehicle that day and he says that he told us that one of the HT leads was taped and that it could be the problem. Tuesday women’s day the technician arrives at our home and after looking at the car and pulling out the ht leads and diagnosing now says that the car needs a new coil pack and a set of ht leads. How can this be the case. We brought the car in for a standard service and now are left stranded with a vehicle which is not drivable. No issues with vibrations or stalling from the car before the service, but after an over R8000 service the car was only driveable for the 15 minute journey back home, that is appalling. Releasing a car with taped ht lead where is the service and safety in that from one of the largest automobile manufacturers and apparent dealerships rated number 1 in service. Managers and supervisors at this branch I honestly cannot believe after bringing this car for services and maintenance for the past 18 years to you, and consistently their being issues. Rated number one in service, totally a hoax!! Appalled by the Hatfield group. I will now be stranded and my car inoperable after what was supposed to be a simple service.
