Hedgehog Safari Lodge

We had a great 3 night stay here, so handy for the crocodile bridge gate. The lodge grounds are wonderful. The view at the room was amazing. The dinner each night was very tasty, I had 2-3 helpings at the buffet! Bruce, Ilsa, Geyser and Natasha were lovely people, helpful and had a wealth of interesting knowledge. Hopefully one day we will be back!

This is the second year we've visited the lodge and can't wait to go back!! Management and staff are wonderful, not to mention the food. This relates to the entry into the park. We booked and paid for the tickets online. Expecting a smooth entry process we were disappointed with what felt like border control ie you wait, you drive and then you wait while it seems people painstakingly type in all your and your passengers details before allowing you entry. Took us 45 minutes to get through to the park. Bizarre

As those that read my reviews know, I dish-out the brick-bats as well as the bouquets. This is the bouquet to beat them all. Truth is, I’m almost reluctant to post this, as I worry that too many people will swamp these guys and we’ll miss out next time we visit South Africa. Every now and again as in once-in-a-decade, you experience such an unforgettable experience, that it stays with your forever. That was the stay at Crocodile Bridge Lodge. No, it’s not five star. No, there’s no alacarte restaurant, or a bar-man, or porters, or spa-baths. What you have, was a stay a that is a bit like a week at your favourite aunt’s place, when you were a kid. The rooms are simple, basic, immaculately clean and equiped with fridge, microwave and cutlery etc. And no need to use any of that ! Your daily room rate includes a fully cooked breakfast and a dinner that will knock your socks off. A big barbecue every night and so much food, you can’t fit in dessert. The “bar” is a fridge full of the basics, which works on an honour system ! I kid you not ! Help yourself and fill in the clip-board on the fridge door. You can drive a few hundred metres to the Kruger gate or, park yourself on the deck and observe the animals in the river. Our room is literally, 3 metres from the Kruger Park electric fence. In the evening a mother elephant and her bub came up to the fence to say hello. Amazing. Oh yeah, our sleep was interrupted a couple of times with hippos carrying on grunting, with those damned Lions roaring.. amazing… The host/mangers “Gee” and “Natasha” are the nicest South Africans you will ever meet and will do anything to help, without being intrusive. The price per day was ridiculous for what we received. Incredibly, what we would pay for a decent grocery shop back home, covered our entire stay there for 2 for 5 nights. I N C R E D I B L E ! Enough raving, I’m off for dinner with the gang here at Crocodile Bridge Lodge. Nearby activities: You’re metres away from what is arguably, the world’s greatest national park.

Property is located less than 3 minutes from Crocodile Gate and offers guests magnificent views of the river. Owners, management and staff are all welcoming. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent. Accommodation spotless and includes requisite modern amenities. Solo traveler. Stayed 4 nights November 2022.Rooms: 5/5

The Crocodile Bridge Safari Lodge is absolutely stunning. It was my second stay and I would always come back. The location is awesome. 100% Nature. You are overlooking the Kruger National Park. The entire location is just perfect to combine game drive adventures and relaxation. The Team, especially the managers and the ladies who are cooking Dinner are outstanding!

What a wonderful lodge from the setting, it is right across the river from the Crocodile Bridge Gate, with beautiful views and animals right in front of the deck. It is spotlessly clean with spacious rooms/tents, the food is delicious and our hosts Alan and Michelle and all the staff could not have been more hospitable. I would highly recommend a stay here and will definitely stay again.

We had an incredible stay here! The Lodge is so beautiful, the stuff so lovely and we really enjoyed the days, sitting on the terrace watching the animals crossing by. Definitely an super experience. We highly recommend this wonderful place.Rooms: 5/5

One of the most beautiful, peaceful, sight-filled venues we have stayed at - and we’ve stayed at a few! This will most certainly be a regular place we will be staying at. Great food, great hosts, location location location!

We had the privilege to spend 3 nights at Crocodile Bridge Safari Lodge. The accommodation was neat, clean and had everything we needed. We had the best time and lots of laughs with Bruce and Ilse. The way the dinners get prepared and a welcoming bon-fire makes you feel right at home. It feels like a meal with family. This Lodge ticks all the boxes, beautiful nature, fantastic food, above average hospitality and a need to return to have this beautiful experience again.
