I applied for a pair of glasses at Mellins. My medical aid approved it and I was given an amount to work with, as well as what costs I needed to cover. Everything was fine.  Fast forward three months later. There was a large amount taken from my bank account and upon further investigation I found out iHealth/Unity have made no payments to Mellins. I went to Mellins and they stopped any further payments from being deducted from my account. It's been weeks now and Mellins is still battling my medical aid to make the payment.  They keep on coming up with moronic excuses, such as they can't find the paperwork, so Mellins just resubmits it. Still, we are waiting for them to pay.  But don't worry though, iHealth will without fail deduct their monthly payment from your bank account. At least their priorities are straight in that they still love taking your money.

They approved a claim, and later decided they weren't going to pay the full amount without any notice. I know other medical aids are expensive, but it's that way for a reason! Staying with this company is like throwing what little money we have into the wind.

As far as trashy, scummy medical health insurance goes, this is at the top of the list.

Food and service was excellent.
