Lovely atmosphere. Food’s fresh and tasty. Cakes to die for…. . Chocolate and all kinds of goodies too shop for in the market. Well done to staff and management.
Ordered the salad with tuna, a hard boiled egg and a smattering of roasted chickpeas with plenty of greens but very little of the aforementioned. Literally about a quarter of a can of plain tuna, maybe 10 chickpeas. It was bland, no flavour and a rip off for the price. Otherwise the atmosphere was and service was great, the deck is lovely and the shop had what I needed. Altogether I would say almost everything is rather overpriced, but hey, it's Jackson's. I'll order something else next time to munch, but the fruit juice was amazing and fresh.
My husband and I absolutely love this market. Awesome fresh produce and other health items. The restaurant is quite nice with a great out door sitting area for summer. They have a wide selection of different food, from vegan, to burgers, and it’s free range meat. Great for the family and a Sunday morning chill.
NOT A PLACE FOR KIDS....even though it might look like it. That's my summary of this place. Jackson's is basically a hippie food place better suited to single folks and couples without kids. It's good for a small bite with all the cliche healthy stuff or a heavy meal for lunch. The wife says all the food is sort of the same and I'd agree. The location is great and of you sit outside, it's got a good view from the deck. On sunny days the deck is also shaded although it starts to feel like a greenhouse if there is no breeze. As far as taking your kids is concerned, note that there is not place for kids to run around, no particular attractions for kids and most tellingly, no menu items for the kids. I'd not advice taking them with you there. On the day I visited the service was poor despite the place being relatively empty. the waitress was distracted, made mistakes and was not always polite...I think she's a newbie. We've also been served rotten eggs on a busy day but at least the waiter was considerate enough to bring us something else and apologize. Overall, this place serves your cliche health food, has a good view and that just about it.
The trend and lifestyle towards 'whole food' is growing and with good reason. Customers are now more knowledgeable and discerning when it comes to how, where and when our food is sourced. This is of course, the first branch of Jackson’s, the other, is at Kyalami Corner. Both stock organic, locally sourced and seasonal produce as well as a plethora of whole and health foods, prepared foods, health supplements and more. My pizza had a fantastic crunchy base with enough toppings to satisfy my tastebuds and hunger. The staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive even at the busiest of brunch times. Bonus points for having a large open deck to enjoy your meal while your car is safely parked undercover.
The restaurant side is nice. The food was delicious. No kids menu though, but not a problem if you are going for breakfast. The market itself had some unique imported items, which led to high prices. However, there are items, like the Almond Breeze and Buttanutt milk alternitives, that one can get in other shops, and those clearly indicated the bloated prices of the market. It was a good experience, but not somewhere I would go out of my way to go to again.
Cold sour espresso sent the 1st attempt back 2nd even more sour. Menu price R25 Full vegan grill came with burned white bread disguised as sour dough. Very dry and meager vegan bacon and tiny dry burger patty according to me it was supposed to be vegan sausage. Menu Price R149 Vegan Breakfast bowl was a bowl full of dry quinoa disguised under as little other ingredients as possible to hide it. Menu Price R109 Frys looked like yesterday's nuked in the microwave but not even long enough as they arrived luke warm at the table. Not the experience we were expecting @ table 14 on the 31st March 11:am
Jackson’s never disappoints. I was there today, 10 January 2023 for a quick bite, mid day. Great service and awesome vegan burger on their current special. The food is fresh and served beautifully. The menu clearly indicates various dietary options. Very nifty!
Great selection of interesting food brands. We ate and the food was very tasty, and shopped. Have never seen bacon sold like this before
Happy meals = Healthy meals Great shop & restaurant, delicious food and friendly service. I love the concept of healthy eating and shopping at the same store. We've been to the shop countless times over the last 2.5 years and we're never disappointed. Really worth a visit and coming back!
