John Dorys Fish, Grill, Sushi. - Golden Horse Casino

This John Dory is the best and the only one I would go to when we are staying in Pietermaritzburg. They serve the best taste and freshness. Even when they offer their complimentary popcorn as a pre-starter! The one negative is their service can be a bit slow on busy nights on the weekends.

Not a good experience this time. Was a cold evening and ordered a liter of the Pineapple and Kiwi refreshment without ice. It comes with ice, two pieces of pineapple and no mint leaves. We then told the waiter to remove the ice. It's removed but very much short of the full mark. The menu does not specify that ice is part of the measurement. Nothing was done about that. Secondly hair in one of our meals. That was replaced by the manager that was apologetic. Thank you. It's understandable, mishaps do happen. Will not make it our pitstop anymore.

I love seafood so it was easy for this place to win my heart. The food is tasty and the portions are large. The atmosphere is a mix between that of a fast food and a restaurant. The service is also very great. I have been there a couple times and I'm sure il call again soon!

The food is amazing probably the best sushi in Pietermaritzburg. The service!? Terrible and I am basing this on multiple occasions. The waiters from observations are more professional towards non-black customers.

Extremely bad experience.... was our first time at John Dory's and we definitely don't want to go back... We ordered one of the family platters: Deep-fried fish was soaked in oil, the rice was dry and flavorless, half of the mussel shells were empty, and the "double serving of Calamari" was less than a normal portion... asked for a Queen Prawn top up which were smaller than the Prawn in the platter... we asked to send us the correct Prawn from which the Manager said they did not have stock but then later arrived with a plate of Queen Prawn... Also ordered the Steak, asked for Medium... First received it well done which tasted burned and tough, then asked to fix it which they gladly did but then returned with a steak so raw it was bleeding everywhere... eventually just canceled that order... None of us finished our food not even my hungry teenagers and no one wanted takeaways... half of the food was wasted and that is something that never happens in our family... Vegetarian options: Not much to choose from Kid-friendliness: Nothing to do Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible entrance and some tables are wheelchair friendly

Staff did not know what they were doing, took orders incorrectly, food took over 1 and half hours to get to us. All meals were incorrect as per order, drinks totally different from order. To put this bluntly the worst restaurant in Pietermaritzburg and this is me being polite. Waiter didn't know a thing on the menu and asked us to point out each it so he can write it down then still got it all wrong! If I could give you guys a negative star I would! Will never ever return there!

Amazing service by Pretty, Delicious food. Highly recommend the jalapeño Poppers. Well done to the Chef and management.

My experience at this place was amazing all thanks to my waiter Zama found a daughter since we share a surname very humble and respectful child and her managers kept on checking on me pity I forgot their names but service at John dory Golden horse is amazing will be seeing your'll soon.
