Some places are just places. Katy’s Palace Bar is a different kettle of fish altogether. It has been said that one step through the door of Katy’s will take you very, very far, into a place where the exotic complements the old, where otherworldliness is highlighted by a spectacular backdrop of Sandton skyline.

SIR JAMES VAN DER MERWE

Sir James van der Merwe took it upon himself to go on a gentleman’s quest to find the perfect place to enjoy a drink. He travelled near and far, but in the end he knew that if he were to find the best, he would need to open his own bar.

The space he created is eclectic and inviting, a worldly cocktail of treasured trinkets from his travels with a shot of local flair.

Sir James is not one to stay still, he is rather vibrant and energetic whether he is hosting a club night party or inviting his friends for a game of billiards.

Katy’s palace bar is extremely trendy, it always has events and has good music. The drinks are good and when we went there were many drink promotions where they offered free tasters of new seltzers. I would recommend for a chilled Sunday afternoon. The only problem is there is very limited seating but if you haven’t booked a table and don’t mind standing then you should be okay .
Will update once I have been but this place looks great! It is only open on Wednesdays.

Really awesome venue for sun-downers with great music that might just get you busting those moves like never before, great staff with upbeat and vibrant environment. An absolute must on places to visit and experience.
One of my favourite places to go out with friends when you’re looking for a fun night out with amazing food great drinks and even better music. The staff are super friendly and the restaurant is always clean and extremely welcoming.

I had the worst experience at Katy's Palace Bar It really isn't worthwhile liaising with their management, or reservations team. I booked with Danny, I called twice to confirm all was in order. I noticed that Connect Entertainment also manages the events here, so I sent them the communication with Danny to make them aware as well. My reservation was for 20 people, a cake to be brought in, and I requested the drinks and food menu thrice. I eventually received a disappointing food menu only. Arrived at the restaurant, they opened at 14h00 •No staff assistance regarding the reserved table •The table only seated 16, not 20, we tried to make a plan, other guests got annoyed as we had taken chairs from their tables. The manager herself, dressed in a bright pink on 9 October, had also been abrupt by asking why are we moving around her chairs. •Waited a while at the entrance in order for the gents to pay, as they only have 1 card machine. •The manager so it seemed shouted and disrespected her staff infront of customers "I got the stock but nobody is Fking helping me" •Ordered drinks, ordered food The drinks can only be paid per person, or an entire table not as couples the waitor mentioned they system doesn't support that. The waitor was not hands on with a table of 20 people and 16 chairs. Food arrived and you're expected to eat from the platter pizzas, pasta,wings, etc Meaning there are no side Plates or cutlery. I inquired as to why and bearing in mind we have a Birthday cake, so should we use our fingers too. Salt and pepper or sauce is sachets. We eventually shouted enough to get 5 side Plates made available from the kitchen the waitors say they made a plan •There is no drinks menu, so you actually need to Go Figure ,if your bill was correct by the end as nothing supports the beverage prices. They do not serve cocktails, nor a wide range of beers. The menu is as basic as their service. We eventually only spent 2 hours there and booked at another restaurant and bar which we enjoyed and found far more professional, as well them being able to accommodate us at short notice ... oh, and they had cutlery and crockery!!! The venue overall is beautiful and many are lead to assume that the images uploaded here and Marketing is the expectation of your reservation here... Massive failure!!!
