A home away from home. A quaint authentic Durban style curry takeaway/sit down. The owners Uncle Bob and his wife are amazing hosts and he's wife makes proper home quality food. If you want Durban curries, make sure you try them out. The sugar beans bunny was excellent including the veg briyani. They carry a wide variety of Durban spices as well. Will definitely be back.
Friday, 5 May 2023 Friends have advised us to order curries from this shop in Northwold, Randburg. Wednesday night, hubby drove to grab some curries, but it was peak traffic, so he turned around. Today for lunch with a plumber working in our garden, I thought: right - let's do curry! I ordered boneless lamb curry with rice for Hein and the plumber - and a butter chicken 1/4 bunny chow for myself. A couple with a young kid sat at a table - the kid had curry and rice. They both had sandwiches - and it looked amazing!!! The lady told me they stay in Pretoria -but order curries from Katz via Ubereats. My order was delivered - my eyes nearly popped out - looked like a feast. Drove quickly home and then plated it ..... wow, everything was just amazing!!!!! Hein's lamb curry was amazing!!!! Nice heat to it. My butter chicken was fab and the bunny chow was filled with chicken pieces - I couldn't finish even half of my portion!! Will definitely order curry there again!!!!!!!
Their curries are the most consistent in Johannesburg. Their bunnies are phenomenal, and the bread always fresh and soft. In my almost 20 years in Johannesburg, I struggled to find authentic and consistent Durban-style curries, until I discovered Katz Curries. They are absolutely the best, without a doubt.
Wow! We come from Durbs so we have been looking for authentic Durban curries - at last we have found them! We have tried other curry places like Swagath, Bharti and either their food lacks flavor or they are not consistent- we get a 5-star meal then a 1-star meal. Katz Curries provides consistency in terms of food and service and they give big portions! Their chicken and prawn curry is also delicious!
Katz Curries is my absolute favourite restaurant/takeaway in Johannesburg. The meals are prepared with quality ingredients and are cooked in an authentic Durban style. I've been a returning customer there since 2015 with the food being consistently tasty, flavorful and completely satisfying. My favorites are the lamb bunny, broad beans bunny, chicken roti roll and all breyanis, followed by the traditional soji of course! Aunty Kat and Uncle Bob are warm, welcoming and genuinely nice people. Staff are friendly and well mannered. I love the fact that the shop is always kept totally clean, neat and hygienic. I can’t wait to return and would recommend it to anybody searching for awesome Durban style curries with a homely feel. Aunty Kat does it better than your mother and how your wife should.... :
Best bunny I’ve had in a while. Service was good and friendly. Waiting time was short. Definitely worth it if you like Durban curries.Food: 5/5
So welcoming and so amazing. Hubby ordered a 1/4 Mutton and I had the Chicken Biryani....Wow, the food is delicious...definitely coming back!
Curry was very good, I had the broad beans bunny, 10/10. Wife had the mutton bunny, I would rate it 6/10, meat and potatoes were nice and soft however the flavour was not what I am used to don't get me wrong, it was nice, just not what I am used to Soji was different in taste and texture I loved it Service was good, friendly, I would go back and try the other curries
One of the best bunnies and curries we have had in a while. However the price is slightly high especially for the area it is situated in. All in all a good bunny but pricey.Food: 5/5
A customer of mine recommended Katz Curries. Their food offering is authentic Durban curries. Excellent food. Friendly and accommodating owners too. Highly recommend. See you soon.
