Konciouz Records is a multimedia entertainment company which seeks to support positive art forms and help establish upcoming talents in the industry
Konciouz Records & Entertainment is a registered emerging recording label that was founded in September 2017 by long time friends and fellow artists; Msizi Maseko, Ntando Phewa, Mthetheleli Malishe, Samkelo Madulini, Cebo Ngcobo, Luyanda Hlatshwayo and Reigan Govender, whom has since joined in February 2018. We are a group of young aspiring artists who have been recording and producing music since we were in our early teens and over the many years we have developed and perfected our craft in genres including: Hip-Hop/Rap, House [Deep, Afro, Tribal iGqomu and iSgubhu] and Pop Music. As emerging artists, we were driven to undertake the initiative of developing our own record label in the spirit of entrepreneurship because our research found there is a huge gap in the market for 100% black-owned music recording labels in South Africa and, we came to learn, from experience how difficult it really is to get into the mainstream industry as a young artist without the backing of a major record label such as Universal, Sony BMG, Gallo Records, etc. Also, the threat of being victimized by record labels who offer unfair contractual deals to their artists as we have seen occurring over the years with some of our local artists.
Konciouz Records & Entertainment is the “Home of Diversity” because we work with a variety of artists who do various styles of music and we have very talented producers, disc-jockeys, song writers, singers and rappers, however we are not only restricted to music. Our team is also very involved in graphics design, events organizing, photography and videography, poetry and visual arts. Basically, we want to be at the helm of entertainment and we hope to expand our reach into other fields in this diverse industry of entertainment, hopefully, in the next few years to come.
