Restaurant was empty for a Saturday and can’t understand why cos the food is absolutely yum. Found the prawn curry a bit too gingery but the rest of the dishes was Devine. The prawn and calamari skewer was the best dish. Creme Brûlée really good Thai silk was not nice. Service was fast and efficient and a great ambience. Very warm in winter with gas heaters
There is a new king in town, and his name is Kong. We made sure that we weren't going home hungry, so we ordered it all. Well not really, but we ordered enough. We started out with Beef Tataki Roll We made sure that we weren't going home hungry, so we ordered it all. Well not really, but we ordered enough. We started out with Beef Tataki Roll sushi, and some Hong Kong Pears. Let us tell you, we started off GREAT. The sushi was perfect, not just the flavour pairing, but also the precision, each piece was exactly the same to the one next to it. Now before we continue, can we just get a moment to relive the moment we ate a Hong Kong Pear, because those bad boys were out of this world, potato deep fried and stuffed with duck, chicken, and prawn. Can you imagine anything better? Next up was the Massaman Lamb Curry, which was perfect for a cold night, so soft and creamy with a hint of sweetness, just decadent. Our last main course was the Angry Duck, this bad boy was furious, and we only got the medium heat one. The owner did tell us that they make the duck super angry, they slap it, they swear at it, anything to get it riled up these are jokes folks. Needless to say, it was hot, but oh so tasty at the same time. And it wasn't the kind of heat that lingered for days, it burnt and moved on. Finally dessert. We ordered a Yoghurt Pannacotta, and we were very pleased that it came out dancin’! So damn tasty, yet not too sweet or over powering. Great way to seal off a great dinner. Service was some of the best service we have experienced. The owner made his rounds at a lot of the tables, asking us about our meal and in general just seemed like he was enjoying his evening talking to his customers. The waiting staff was great too. Never was the table filthy or your glass empty, no matter who we ordered with, our waiter always knew what we were eating and drinking. But the best of all was that the waiter wasn't just there to bring us food, he started conversations, made jokes and really seemed interested in taking care of us. Kong is a very impactful name, and so was the entire restaurant when we walked in. Big open space, prominent decor, professionally dressed staff. Everything shouted boldness, with a modern and comforting style. We can't wait to go back for a second, third and fourth round. TTT’s rating out of 5: Food - 5 Service - 5 Atmosphere – 5 Value - 5 Kong gets Two Tasty Tummies' stamp of approval
My love for this restaurant seems to grow every time I go there. I love the wide variety of their menu. I get to try something new every time I am there. The waiters are friendly and helpful. The cocktails are excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful. It is always a treat to go there.
Good overall experience. I have a good dinner here, service was questionable but the food was good. We had a few dimsum items to start which were nice, I ordered the angry duck for a main and it came out more like a slightly annoyed duck. My guest had the green curry which was really good. Overall nothing stand out but probably a good bet
Had a terrible experience on Saturday night. Won't ever go back. The calamari that the waiter said were rings were not rings. The heads hold too much oil. Didn't eat them. Then the R160 steak was basted in what tasted like Jimmy's marinade. Wasn't offered a cheese or mushroom source to go over the steak. Had one bite and took the rest of it for my dogs. They at least didn't mess up the chips.
service very poor over all. waiter very attentive.15 minutes to get a bottle of wine and even then we were brought red and not white as asked. also did not eat because 3 time they could not bring me a blue stake as requested. won't go back very sad as I had never been and was looking forward to a great meal.
Great food with friendly service. The chicken satay skewers are a must try, we ordered a second dish they were so good. The red curry duck was another stand out. A huge restaurant with great ambiance. Well worth a try.
Nothing really special to write about. Good was OK, garlic rice had no flavour, dumplings were lacking in any taste. Service was slow. Thought staff are very friendly. Your locol Chinese take away will do much better.
Wonderful restaurant! Great sushi, had the Crispy calamari appetizer which was a really generous portion, the Beef Tataki roll - delicious, a Salmom California roll - wonderfully fresh salmon and then we ended it off with the Thai silk which was wonderful. Huge open spaces with amazing decor and Sizwe was a brilliant waiter. Very happy with the experience had and definitely a must try.
Really good food and good service.
