The farm is beautiful, stunning forest and good birding. Sadly it seemed to us that the owners no longer are running it for tourists, seems to be a family affair with the odd guest. Raid maintenance very poor and of the 8 trails they have only one was actually maintained. The rest were totally overgrown and in the managers words “ no gos”. We listened to the drone of a weed eater and chainsaws most of the week end. Such a pity as the property is beautiful and Grace who looks after the chalets was delightful, but seems tourism no lingers features highly on the agenda.
Wow! Had such an amazing weekend away. The treehouse we stayed in was not only amazing and clean but it was setteled in beautiful canopy of various massive trees! The sunset and view was incredible! Nestled away and so private with a warm fire! The animals were great especially the monkeys . I recommend this place as a must see for romantic getaways! Definitely be again
Great place for outdoor outing. It is the most amazing and peaceful place in the wildness. I love the feeling of peace and the animals popping out of the bushes and there way the interact with the people. Just beware of the monkey coming into rooms that is if you do not take safety precautions
Firstly there was no indication on the website that a high clearance car is needed to drive the road and any car which is not 4x4 will struggle in wet weather. Secondly the prices are extremely expensive in relation to the accommodations in the Farm House. There were two fridges which weren’t cold and we were 10 people and needed a lot of storage which wasn’t adequate. The first night there wasn’t any running water, the second night no hot water and the third night night there was a dangerously high amount of bees in two of the 5 rooms. We couldn’t occupy the rooms due to the bees. Overall the accommodation wasn’t serviced adequately before our arrival. One of the bedrooms had either bed bugs or flees in the bed which led to 33 bites on one of the guests. The nature and birding is exquisite and a true natural paradise, but the accommodation was shocking in comparison to the price.
One of the best birding venues I have ever been to. The team of Lisa, David and Phillip do an amazing job and make the experience worth every minute. The accommodation is more than adequate and KM is worth a visit.
With sunset and sunrise that can be viewed from every room in the Thora Boloka cottage - our family had a spectacular 2 night stay. The views are spectacular, the place is quiet - a little bit of heaven. Lots of walks available and Magoebaskloof is 45 minutes drive away. We chose to chill for 2 days and didn't need to go anywhere! Lisa was an impeccable host - providing so much info, yet giving us all the privacy and space we needed. She is supported by an incredibly friendly, helpful and professional team . Our young teens loved the upstairs loft and even though we went on possibly one of the coldest set of days, the eco-friendly "non electric" setting had plenty of warmth to offer! The indoor handcrafted fireplace was a great spot for the four of us to chat around. My daughter and I even baked muffins in the little Hansel & Gretel gas powered oven! Candlelight created a soft ambience and we LOVED the artiness of the design - such clever use of the clay and wood to create this colourful and spaciouis place. Has a gas geyser which produced an abundance of hot water. The gas powered fridge is fine unless you are trying to keep things frozen for a longer journey, but ample for fridge use. Linen and bedding were wonderful and the cottage is eclectic and clean! Outside hammock is a much contended spot and the outside chairs are comfy and new July 2016. A really gorgeous SA stay and so worth a visit! Many thanks Lisa, John, Jared and Maxine.
Eco friendly, off grid. Walks, cycling, birding.. an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. Acccommodation is limited so you feel as if you have the whole place to yourself.
Log cabins in the forest are amazing. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Also a very private and beautiful setting in forest.
Perfect for relaxing and recharging energy! Wonderful place in the middle of indigenous South African forest.
Kurisa Moya is a magical birding hotspot in the middle of the Woodbush reserve here in Magoebaskloof. A must visit!
