Time to reflect. We gathered at 7am earlier than our normal parkrun time. This is Bloem and it gets hot quickly. Our initial small group grew and grew. The Parkrun Director, with Christmas hat on, soon set us off. Don't be deceived as the initial flatness soon turned into a climb to the halfway mark getting our heart rate up. All of the run is veld track with views of surrounding hills then through bluegum trees and onto open veld and from the 4km point it returns along the same route to the finish, not far from the start. Along the way it was worth reflecting on who the area is named after. CJ Langenhoven who started Die Burger newspaper - still in print today. Thanks to the volunteers who made the day with their Christmas theme music at the end.
The initial dustiness of the track has cemented down nicely after the light rains. The area is breathtakingly beautiful and the volunteering 'team most helpful and encouraging'. It is virtually impossible to find a participant that completes the track without a smile.
My son loves the LHP Parkrun. Can't wait to get up @6 on a Saturday
Friendly crowd and volunteers. Not the most interesting route, but parkrun is always fun.
Langenhovenpark parkrun like all parkruns did not disappoint. Thhe course was wet and slippery, however there were enthusiastic marshals a plenty on the course. Lovely course
Parkrun is one of the best ways to get moving regarding fitness and in a friendly non competitive way. We enjoy it a lot
It's a parkrun dont like the new route at all, heavy boring having to run up and down the same path isnt very naaaaas....
Great experience, great route, great to do with friends and families, bring your dogs and have fun!
Fantastic Park run. Very sandy in places, but patches of beautiful forests too
Love it. Great atmosphere. Love being in the outdoors while getting a workout.
