Going for assistance to SARS is always a nightmare to me, however, thank you to Bafana the supervisor who very patiently assisted with my query. I must commend him for not giving up until he was sure that I was happy with his explanation!
Oh the arrogance of these guys!! I need a Tax Status for new business, so I went to eFiling to obtain. To my amazement, my status was NON COMPLIANT under the "Registration" heading. Upon investigation, the non compliant reason was given as "ADDRESS UNKNOWN" for this account,not withstanding the fact that my VAT, Provisional and Income Tax assessments bear the full postal address. I cannot upload proof of address and oh, the CK documents are not acceptable,must be a municipal account but must visit a SARS branch for submission. Now that in itself is mission as I reside 50km from the nearest SARS office. Upon arrival oh, I had to wait 2 hours in the queue, I was confronted with a sweating,stone faced consultant which could not answer any questions and rigidly stuck to : "I am telling you that the SOP prescribes the process and that is what you will adhere to". My day trip came to an end at 18:30 and I was greeted with a SMS notification that the account details had been updated. Great was my surprise or not to learn that,when I opened my tax status, I was still non-compliant!! I contacted the faceless SARS one cannot talk to branch members or senior officials, you HAVE to speak to the call centre. Again, the consultant after having to wait 10 minutes for her to scrutinize my account pointed out that the SOP prescribes that I visit a SARS Branch and submit the required documents!! I pointed out and quoting case numbers that I did so a few days ago. The consultant replied: "THE TURN AROUND TIME FOR ACCOUNT UPDATES IS 21 WORKING DAYS:" All further questions by me was greeted with absolute silence. Next move: Challenge the Status via eFiling. I promptly received a SMS confirming receipt, and the assurance that SARS is investigating. The result: Three days later I received a SMS from SARS that correspondence had been issued. What did the correspondence say? "YOUR TAX STATUS WILL REMAIN NON COMPLIANT UNTIL SUCH TIME AS YOU NORMALIZE YOUR TAX AFFAIRS" Status of the case: Case Closed. Oh, what a pleasure to do business in the new SA. And the President assures the world that " ..we are repositioning and repackaging SA to attract investment..... SARS: You stink. You are arrogant and out of touch with reality.

i have had a nightmare experience with trying to register with SARS efiling. I started the SARS efiling Registration before 23/07/2014 because my banking details had changed the running back and forth between the call centre and SARS offices started. I had to go to a SARS office to hand in new bank statement as proof of change of banking details. I could not sit for more than Two hours at Randburg SARS as I had other engagements so I left and two days later went to Johannesburg. they failed to to assist me they said i must submit my bank details online. The call centre the next day could not help me they said I must go to a SARS branch to change bank details. I went to Orlando SARS office on the 06/08/2014. Orlando SARS assisted to change my banking details and gave me a print out with reference number. I had also given Orlando proof of residence which I had previously faxed to SARS on 29/07/2014. I gave it again. On the 16/09/2014 i managed to Register for the second time after bank details were changed. I scanned and faxed all my details> my efiling was removed a few days later bcause i did not scan the proof of residence to SARS the Third time around. I re-registered for the FOURTH TIME on the 20/10/2014 on efiling and faxed AND SCANNED the new BANK statement Proof of RESIDENCE copy ID. ON THE 23/10/2014 MY efiling profile has BEEN DECLINED. THE CALL CENTRE AGENT SAYS ITS BECAUSE I MUST GO TO A SARS OFFICE TO HAND IN MY BANK STATEMENT. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!!!!
I called in to the call center and I was told I am caller number 1 thousand something I waited on the phone for 2 hours, just image and then they phone dropped automatically, this is unacceptable Extremely bad bad service of Sars!! If I could rate no stars I ws going to

Services are very difficult since you have to queue for each and every query you. You cant just resolve two queries at ones
It's difficult to get any assistance from sars.
