Our son was born here. Plenty parking at very reasonable pricing. Reception seems quite disorganised and she let us wait 20 minutes as she simple forgot us, which is the only negative thing I experienced here. Maternity ward team very friendly, caring and rooms are clean and comfortable as well. Chipo our main Nurse was very caring as all her colleagues as well and she really took her time to make the labour a bit more bearable for my wife. Overall a very positive experience.
I was taken into room Q in surgical ward 1. I was very happy to be in my own room however the room looked like someone was already using it. The pics don't do it justice. My husband said how it looks like the room hasn't been cleaned since the last person and the man that lead us to the room said no we just hadn't used the room in a while. I’m willing to bet that thats not the case. There was a huuugggee crumpled gown on the bed, and the pillow had no pillow case and the bed looked crumpled the pic was taken after he took the pillow and straightened the bed. I could swear there were old hospital bracelets on the table. I felt odd standing there while the guy cleaned the room up, so I went to the loo, they were gone when I came out. The bin was full, the sink was dirty and when we poured the water to rinse it out it was blocked. There were water splats on the wall and there was a brown smudges in the toilet. There was a fly in the room and a large ant on the bed. I know it may not sound like much but adding bugs to an already dirty room just completes the atmosphere. The guy walked back in while my husband and I were taking about the used gown and he seem irritated and said no its not used but he will bring me a smaller one. There was no underwear, they said they would bring. They didn't bring the underwear until 5hours later when they wanted me to go in. I hadn't changed yet, I told the man that had come to get me and he went to get me some. I noted that I’m vegan on the paperwork and was starving after the procedure the lady who brought the food was very sweet and asked if chicken and rice was okay. I told her I don't eat milk or dairy. She insisted she would find me something. She brought me a salad that consisted on lettuce, cucumber and the peel of a carrot with provita which are not vegan. Also coffee with milk on the side. The nurse dropped the cotton swab on the floor and still wanted to use it on my arm when she took the drip out. When I mentioned it had been on the floor she squirted it with some sanitiser. I insisted on another. She was very nice about it but I didn't love that. My husband tried to open the door in the waiting area and the handle came off. The nurse, anaesthetist and doctor and those that assisted in the theatre were all great but life really dropped the ball on the cleanliness. I like Fourways life but I struggled defending it. I’m really disappointed.
I had the most wonderful experience here even though I arrived with a broken ankle. The staff are amazing, so friendly and accommodating at all times. I always felt like I was a priority - no matter how many times I needed help to get to the toilet. My orthopedic surgeon - Dr. Nick Batoulis was fantastic. He explained everything so well, so that I could understand exactly what was happening and what I could expect. The food was really delicious for hospital food, although the servings were quite small. When I told the nurses that I was still hungry, they quickly organized me another meal, no questions asked. My room was great with an outside door facing an indigenous field with Guinea fowl running around. I was happy lie in my bed and look outside which felt as if some buck would be walking past at any minute. Thank you Fourways Life for the wonderful experience.
@LIFEFOURWAYSHOSPITAL Please honour this caterer Day shift 18-19/10/2022, she deserves it! Our little soldier was born at Life Fourways Hospital should have “Life Fourways Health-Spa” over the door if you ask me!. My wife and I had a wonderful experience at maternity, the nurses are knowledgeable, patient and reassuring at all times. We were especially impressed with the young lady that handled the catering!!! We never did catch her name but she was absolutely servant-hearted!!! She had a wonderful bedside manner, was courteous and friendly and most importantly had a good sense of humor. We did leave a positive comment-card when we were “released back into the wild” but always feel that good service should be reviewed publicly
Absolutely amazed at the staff, doctors, I’ve been to a number of hospitals and this one by far outshines the rest. The nurses are very friendly and accommodating, happy to help and it is making my pre operative experience that much better. I’m absolutely blown away . Thank you Fourways Life!
I was admitted on the 13th of September in the AMs in Surgical 2 as i had severe back pain. The nurses in Surgical 2 were super kind. Later that day I had a seizure due to a reaction from a drip. After I was revived, I had a nurse sitting with me in the ward until the doctor arrived just to make sure that should I encounter another seizure, I would receive assistance immediately. I would highly recommend to others to go to Life Fourways because the care and tender treatment from the nurses in that hospital is top notch. Keep it up with the excellent services.
Just had an infant at your emergency unit and the doctor refused to help the infant....reason...no bed available. According to my knowledge, you need to stabilise a patient and then decide to move to another hospital. I cannot believe that a doctor would do such a thing to worried parents as this is their newborn.I will take this to Hello Peter.
Doctor Khan was so amazing! Nurses are lovely! Veg food wasn’t good but I mean it generally isn’t good at any hospital . Issue: I asked the Hospital Manager to please put the airconditioning on and she said : one night it’s too hot, one night it is too cold. So for 3 days it was HOT! BOILING! I was sweating.I didn’t know if I had a fever or if it was hot. No airconditioning. Maybe the hospital is trying to save some money?
Shocking! Stay Away. We had a terrible experience at the ER on the 14th of Dec. Our toddler who's just under 3 was in excruciating pain due to being constipated for days, we had been to Olivedale Hospital prior for the same issue and had to have an enima as a result which immediately relieved him of all his pain and discomfort. At 12:30am we had to rush him to the ER again, this time unfortunately it was at Fourways Life. The attending doctor provided little to NO help, staff were sleepy and irritable and brushed of his problem with advice of adding vaseline to help him pass. We were then told that they did not have the relevant meds to assist and that we would have to go get it from another hospital Olivedale believe it or not then bring him back so they can assist with another enima or alternatively just do it ourselves for him. Firstly, we would not be rushing our child to an emergency room, if it wasn't an emergency, and if our child wasn't in excruciating pain that all our own efforts haven't sufficed. Secondly, the lack of care and empathy from the nurses and doctors during these traumatic experiences in no way brings any comfort to parents or the child. Thirdly, as a 24 hour facility that people are paying insane amounts to use, whether we are coming at 8 in the morning or at midnight, BE AWAKE, BE PRESENT, and do the job you're hired to do. Suffice to say, we were sent home no better than the way we arrived, with absolutely no help from the ER. A last ditch attempt saw a nurse coming over to give my son some laxative formula, which he vommitted out almost immediately due to his current condition, being exhausted and scared. We are so extremely disappointed after this experience because we have had great experiences with our current pead and gynae that have offices there with appointment based visits, but we are now terrified of what to expect in that ER room and will never be taking that chance again.
If I could give them a zero I definitely would. Went into causality on Saturday with what I thought was a tonsillitis infection, the doctor didn’t even bother to do further investigation after I told him what I thought it was. I was sent home with just antibiotics, took Routine bloods and told I’d be fine. Got home and my temperature kept getting worse 40degrees . Went back again on Sunday, I was seen by a different doctor, she put me on a drip with paracetamol and I was sent home and told antibiotics would take 2-3 days to work. They were super nonchalant Not even 30mins after leaving my temperature was back at 40. I had to wait till Monday to get an appointment with my GP, who IMMEDIATELY saw that it was a Quinsy and was dangerous due to my current condition which both Doctors knew about. Typing this as I’m currently laying in a hospital bed because I was admitted immediately, at a different hospital of course. My infection markers are still high all because doctors failed to do their due diligence especially knowing my condition . Every specialist that I’ve seen since my hospitalisation is shocked that I sent home TWICE in such a terrible state.
