Mangwa Valley Game Lodge

We were there last weekend for our Christmas party. I would come to this place over and over again. As we entered the gate we were met by the site of giraffe along the way and the impalas . The reception we received from the team is commendable . The whole group can’t wait to come back here . The stuff are friendly and our rooms were well cleaned . Beautiful place full of serenity and peace . Love it . Keep it up

I booked the honeymoon suite for me and my partner. Everything was exceptional. The room was spacious,it had everything we needed. The staff was friendly. The buffet was nice though I would suggest variety of dishes if you spending more than 2 nights as they repeat. I did all activities offered by the lodge. The spa was great but there’s only two options available either 60/90 minutes massage available which was quite boring. The quad bike was top tier,seeing animals while having fun. The game drive was relaxing and they offer some light snacks and drink. Overall, I would go again in a heartbeat.

I love the place. Very friendly and respectful staff. They make the place what it is. The place is well maintained, The food is awesome. I stayed in their honeymoon suite and the experience was so special. Recently had Xmas lunch and game drive with my family. I recommend the place.

I hesitated to write a review, but then realised that our country's tourism needs honest feedback in order to grow and get better. I would not call this lodge a 4 star lodge. We went there for the last part of our honeymoon and needless to say, we cut our time short because the accommodation was really bad. There were tiny orange worms in the bed and on top of it, the room felt dirty even though the cleaning staff went in and cleaned just before we went in. The room didn't lock from the inside, the cold tap didn't work, the outside lighting was very dim, the table-tennis table was dilapidated. When we told them our experience when we checked out, they didn't even seem shocked or remorseful, and didn't even offer our extra day money back which would have been a nice gesture. The staff were really great and friendly. But they definitely need some deep cleaning, fumigation and new bedding... Not a 4 star accommodation

Seeing all these reviews made me choose Mangwa for an anniversary breakaway after a tough year. The facility is extremely disappointing for an apparent 4 star game lodge. We stayed in a chalet, which had old bedding barely fitting on the bed, horrible pillows, no tv or fans, the cupboards were in a bad condition, no kettle for coffee and no milk or small bar fridge. The food was mediocre and not as advertised menu or buffet, only buffet with limited spread was available. The games room is completely outdated with table tennis table on its last legs and the bats broken. The staff are excellent, however the facility itself is really disappointing and definitely not 4 star. It was difficult to enjoy the stay and I'll definitely not return.

These people are refusing to refund me the deposit of R25 000 for a group booking that I had already paid for the 16-19 December. On the 4th of November which is six weeks before my arrival. I called and explained my predicament that I was no longer going to be able continue with this booking I asked and pleaded and waited till this day 22nd December I have not seen my deposit which I believe should be 100% refunded cause I informed them six weeks prior. They promised me that my refund will be processed last week which did not happen and this week Iam being told that the owners are not around I must wait again for an unknown day of their return. How hard can it be to do a refund?

Perfect if you want some quiet time, no TV. Game drive and food buffet. NB! There's 15km of gravel road.

I had the worst experience with these guys my story is a bit different. So we went there specifically for a game drive, so we managed to get a slot and we went off to the drive. Upon coming back we found out that my car had been bumped in the parking area at the front..the receptionist guy told us it was the lodge owner's son who tried to reverse his car and bumped my car while it parked. To cut the long story short they asked me to provide a qoute to fix the car i gave them which after they never made any attempts to get my car fixed. The reception guy played back n forth with me till i could see that they didn't want to fix my car. They refused to let me speak to the actual person that bumped my car or to the lodge owner until today. Be careful if those guys damage your property you getting no compensation.

A short drive from Gauteng, this is a hidden gem. Makes for a good excuse to get out of the city for a weekend break. I would suggest a game drive out of the Mangwa area as the viewing is limited and seemed a bit like a zoo. The food at the lodge was as you would expect from a lodge, buffet and plenty. The bar has specials too. If you want self catering, this is offered and my only advise is to bring your torch as making a braai at night with cell phone torch will be challenging.
