Margaret Roberts Herbal Garden
"The Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre has, in its 40 years of existence, expanded into its full potential and beauty, Starting with Margaret Roberts the founder and continuing with Sandy Roberts her daughter. It is an extraordinary and exceptional place, designed to teach all about herbs, medicinal foods, natural insecticides and building wellness. It is one of South Africa's top ten gardens and is totally dedicated to organic farming and organic principles, probably one of South Africa's truly organic estates.Due to the many lectures and demonstrations we offer to schools, beauty schools, technicons, garden clubs etc, we are only open to the public on a Wednesday 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m and the first Saturday of the month."

Lovely place for weddings, baby showers, funerals, kitchen teas, high teas, school outings. Has a shop where you can buy Margaret Roberts books, herbal teas, healthy lunches. Herbal fragrance bath soaps, herbal spices. Herbs, roses. There is a fairy garden for the younger guests., Lovely gardens. A must visit!
It is so peaceful and quiet and has a calming effect from the stress of everyday life. The personel at the nursery go out of the way to assist A great variety of rare herbs and fruit bearing plants. The Fairy garden, chapel, tea garden, laberinth and tranquility garden a great attractions. What a great experience. I will definately visit again.
I always enjoy visiting the herbal centre. It is peaceful and calming. We attended the monthly Saturday talk and it was very insightful. Glad to see that the family are carrying on with Margaret's legacy.
Dont rush it. Make sure you have enough time to walk the gardens and restore your soul. Was disappointed in the tea garden. Food should reflect the healthy theme.
Really bland food unfortunately. Drove for over 2 hours to have stale tripple chocolate cake and a bland slice of cheesecake: Hot food was OK-ish. So disappointed. My wife was served a stale, tasteless scone which was supposed to be a fantastic staple of theirs. The gardens were really nice, which is the main reason for our visit.
Very disappointing, the herb garden is neglected with grass and weeds growing in between the herbs and therefore not worth the long drive. The other gardens are very boring. The lunch is extremely overpriced and I will not recommend Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre to anybody.
It has been a very long time since my last visit and I must say that I was sad to see a definite air of neglect. The tea garden was nothing to write home about... scones were served cold and were not fresh. The gardens were sad and nothing like their former glory. Was really sad to see
This one place i would love to visit , iv friends who have visited and said how very calm and gentle the vibe is as though one is in a place of serenity. Perhaps i will visit soon . I was here on Wednesday end of January the sand road is in need of an upgrade , very badly eroded , pay R20 for entry, the place is very big plenty place to sit down and watch the world go by, lunch is very nice very open plan plenty of open space in the dining room. The shop has a range of goodies from Lavender pillows to pain cream .
A fantastic day out for everyone and great for families and children. Food in the tea garden is exceptional, I recommend the sorbets and do take a walk around the gardens and nursery. There is an amazing selection of treasures and herbal treats at the Margaret Roberts shop. Well worth the drive from the city.
What a lovely place. If you've never been, it's a little tricky to find, but well worth it. Amazing gardens, like something out of the Victorian era and wonderful food. The gift shop is full of fabulous local made products all from plants growing there. The Margaret Roberts Herbal Center is impressive. This woman clearly had a Love for apothecary and botany, with vision and the capacity to create her dream knowing that water is scarce. She was clearly a resilient lady. I had the pleasure of meeting Sandy and left truly Inspired. Thank you for a lovely day. I'll be back for sure.
