The elevator was broken and were were not made aware of that when we checked in. OUR ROOM WAS ON THE FOURTH FLOOR and they chose not to tell us until we found out after checking in. We were given a room that was supposed to be a fire excape hallway that got converted into an extra room; meaning, if fire was to break out, people would have to knock on our door and wait for us to open so they can escape, which i think it is pretty much against fire code in any country in the world. Worst experience ever
Great beds Excellent extra service Room with balcony Near station, near city center and near shops and restaurants Amazing breakfast , even available at 6:00am on request because we needed to catch an early train to Paris
We visited during New Year’s Eve and didn’t feel so busy. It’s a nice cozy and clean restaurant. The food is a bit of a let down in terms of taste specifically the main and dessert. The gamba Piri-piri is something I suggest you should try if happen to eat there. The service staff was very friendly.
Hotel is in the old building. Rooms are various, some are big with large windows, and some are very small. Everything was tidy and clean. There is also small coffee machine on the table. So, atmosphere is OK. I can complain about noise, because sound insulation isn't good, as a lot of people mentioned this already. Also, if you will get small room, it will be a long heating battery. But if you will have big room, the battery there will be short due to windows, so make sure to open thermostat completely during cold season. At the end I have good impressions in total, except noise.
Friendly professional staff. The rooms a little small but the bed is very comfortable and shower has great water pressureRooms: 4/5
Not worth 4 stars in my opinion. Not going to stay at a Fletcher again. Service is ok, but the rooms are far from sound proof. Staff having conversations in the back of the hotel comes straight into your room, even though the windows are closed. Floors are crooked, but it's an old building. But the biggest thing there is no coffee or tea in the room. That's the least they can do.
Clean and comfortable room. But I had a scary experience. I woke up hearing somebody entered my room 1:50am. I couldn't see the face in the dark but it was a tall man and standing at the door. I am a woman. I said "Who are you?" then he said sorry and got out of the room. I don't know why he could unlock the door with his key card. This happened in the middle of the night and I didn't want to change the room at this time so I locked the door from the inside and slept again. In the morning, I told the reception about this but she said that she has never heard like this and she doesn't know why. I have to say the safety management is doubtful. I stayed here with "Lazy Day" plan which is 13:00 check out but cleaner came in before that. Even though I lock the door from the inside, key card can unlock the door so it doesn't make any sense.
The room was big, i will say massive compared to UK hotels. This is an old Victorian style hotel with very high ceiling. Windows are big and tall. However this is an old hotel which needs some upgrade. Everything looks old, including the bed and towels. There was no exhaust fan in the toilet and a notice say keep the toilet door open after use so that it will ventilate to the room! The carpets stink and the entire hotel had a fishy smell. Hotel do not have a parking space, but street parking is available nearby at 10.60 EUR per day. Free WiFi available. Breakfast is free, but very basic. Having said that the location is good, right in front of the river and opposite the train station.
Big hands for the architect who planned the renovation. The building is ancient and your find a crossover of modern design that keeps and respects the age of the hotel. Also very nice service! Car drivers: Parking in the area costs a fortune.
Beautiful located hotel near the city center with everything in walking distance. The building itself has a lot of atmosphere. Rooms are quite small and basic but sufficient. Staff is friendly and helpful.
