MRC Functional Forest Training introduces a new look at different training methods to improve fitness and strength for trail running and general well being. All happening in Newlands Forest and supervised by Biokineticists.
Fun functional training sessions in the mountains of Cape Town, especially Newlands Forest, led by two Biokineticists, Matthew Holden and Nicola Johnston. Sessions include a mixture of trail running and strength/conditioning exercises using a variety of equipment such as TRX pulleys, therabands and resisted closed bands as well as the natural environment to spice it up.
Running roulette, a game thrown in the midst of it all, keeps athletes guessing as to what is coming next. It is all about having fun but also learning to do specific exercises correctly under the supervision of a Biokineticist who will be there to guide you through your session.

Levels: we cater for all levels including completely new to trail running, beginners, intermediate and advanced athletes
Summer Times (September-April)
• intermediate and advanced: 6:30 am
• new to trail running and beginners: 7:45 am
Winter Times (May-August)
• intermediate and advanced: 7 am
• new to trail running and beginners: 8.15 am
Dates: Every saturday morning
Duration: 1- 1h15 mins
Equipment: Running pack with hydration (camel pack or water holder), running shoes trail preferred or road shoes, running gear and possibly a light weight running jacket depending on weather.
Costs:
• Individual rate: R 50.00 per session
• 8 sessions up front R 320.00 per individual
