Good initiative. Lovely design and layout. Lots of money has been spent on developing this, but unfortunately the management and staff does not seem to share the passion. Thursday morning around 10h00: place is closed and only half a dozen gardeners are sweeping leaves. I managed to get the security guard and his supervisor to let me walk around to have a look. Would have been nice to actually understand what everything is about. Display boards are not legible anymore or labels have been removed
It's a History/Cultural museum that is housing the heritage objects and the history of the Bakgatla nation. The museum was built in 1937 and was upgraded and today is graded level 4 the same as Maropeng Cradle of mankind.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Preserving Bakgatla ba Kgafela local culture. There are two URCSA Saulspoort church buildings and the first one is over 100 years old in this premises together with Mphebatho Cultural Museum. We attended Easter Prayers in Moruleng URCSA just next to Mphebatho Cultural Museum.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYes
Interesting historical site which is well looked after. Good for a quick stop over. Be mindful to drive carefully and to keep within the speed limit when traveling to and from the museum.
Wow, a have to go to place. The museum as most government funded places, is in need of donations, to upkeep this amazing little treasure. The museum tour is a must, and amazing for local and international guests. Group bookings can be done and they have an amazing township tour. Super friendly staff, always willing to go out of their way to assist guests. Don't be detoured by the road entrance, it's a short hop and skip to an amazing experience.
Amazing museum where you can Learn the culture of batswana people. The museum is modern with knowledgeable curators. Make sure you go for the bike tours into the village to have an experience of the locals life, and end the trip at their amazing restaurant where delicious meals will be served.
It was so exciting to attend the business training presentation there...
A must see place with well presented and kept cultural and heritage treasures. The staff was very friendly and would recommend this and even visit again.
Recommended for the whole family. Teaches about culture of the Bakgatla ba kgafela customs and heritage.
Good initial concept but bad implementation. Fewer things on display. Needs a young vibrant Curator to bring life to and institutionalize the place.
