The Muslim Students Association of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University represents the Muslim students on campus as well as hosts a variety of events.

The Muslim Student Association NMMU is a non-profit organisation established to achieve the pleasure of Allah.
Membership
Membership shall be open to any student and staff member of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University with a cost of R100 involved. Membership shall be conditional upon the completion of an NMMU Society Registration form
Elections
Elections are held at the Annual General Meeting to elect the Executive Committee (E.C.) of the MSA.
The E.C consists of the:

Secretary
Treasurer
Media Officer
Communications Officer and
Dawah Officers
• Develop and maintain a strong Islamic character of the members of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
• Maintain a strong, unified Islamic organization
• Maintain an environment where Muslims can comfortably practice Islam
• Spreading the word of Islam at NMMU with wisdom and patience
• Actively participate in and impact on political and social issues at NMMU for an Islamic perspective
• Active involvement in off-campus issues and encouraging student participation in community development
• Striving for unity with other Islamic organisations, while keeping our primary aim in mind
