Tranquil museum illustrating the history of South Africa and Lydenburg, very interesting and recommended. Old artefacts that emanate from the wars that took place on South African soil are well kept and preserved. In fact the entire museum is clean, tidy and maintained. Staff are friendly as well. There is also a nature reserve in which there is an MTB trail for only R35, very reasonable but I myself am yet to try it.

We have popped into the museum while en route to KNP - the museum itself is really nice - and free - but it clearly hasn't been renovated since 80's or 90's and might be found boring by some. Apart from that - everything is presented clearly, kept in order and there are a lot of curious artefacts in there, like carvings from the Boer prisoners-of-war camps or pieces from Lyndenburg history. Also you can visit the reserve just going further through the gates - we didn't do that due to the lack of time, and regret this a bit.

This small yet informative museum, brings to life the eras gone by, the inability of man to live peacefully with each other, whilst giving an insight into the benefits of a good education.

Very informative. Enjoyed learning more about the history of the town & surrounding area.

We were really surprised at the informative and professional exhibits inside the museum on the history and culture of the region. Also the free pamphlets and maps of the surrounds were appreciated. Entrance is also free! Outside exhibits are rather "random" and "unusual". It would be lovely if picnic places are erected in the large outdoor area.

Nice place thus small place but you get all you need to see.
